Lonewolf

They'd both look quite stunning in  a corner of Asif's garden.

If anyone in Bradford buys them they'll quite simply get twocked and you'd never get TPAC authority on them!

Wouldn't it be great to buy them and then be taught how to fly them.

Now that does sound like a plan Miss Debs

It might work in the US, however in the UK the operation of ex-military aircraft of almost any age requires, in practical terms that you have flown similar aircraft in a service role (look at the problems with crewing the Vulcan) or, if the machine in question is of an age that prohibits that, you have significant experience on a similar type (i.e. for WW2 fighters Harvard) and are trained by someone who already operates the aircraft type in question!

I have an acquaintence who has two Mustangs and, despite significant experience on complex types, on "taildraggers" and with large piston engines, needed to buy and fly some 200 hours on  a Harvard before "converting" to the Mustang.

In addition, most ex - military aircraft have deliberate "damage" inflicted on them before sale is permitted, for example the Mustang usually has its fuselage "notched" or weakened, to prevent it from being used for high "G" manouvres.

But your landlord would get the hump if you put them in a lockable shed.

Now that is criminal to deliberately damage these beautiful old war birds................I understand why but it is a crime not to let them fly to the edge of their designed flight envelopes for the enjoyment of there new private custodians

Now I served at RAF Wittering in my early years and know GR3's and T4's intimately. I've even had a jolly in the back seat of a T4!

It'd be a brave jockey who ever piloted it. Regards the ejector seat - good selling point but let's hope the rocket pack, gun sears and MDC are still there before he tries to bang out eh!

Oh yes, there should be drop tanks on inner pylons and main U/C chocked.

My guess it'll end up at a museum airfield and perform runups, taxis and nose wheel stoppies!

Very sad!
