After a conversation the other day as to wether the Auxiliary socket would be able to power one without blowing the 5A fuse or would an additional one be required,  thought I would clamp it and find out :) Results are my pump under load to 42psi draw was 6.3A Peak 7.8A at switch on. So the answer is you may get lucky and it will be ok but would not want to rely on this in an emergency so a connection to optimate lead will be sourced.
Just incase you wanted to know ;)

So the answer was yes the OEM one is fine for my needs :)

0.62 amps is incredibly low , was your meter set right, should it read 6.2 amps as that still would not blow the fuse, my mini pump from wilcos , pulls 9 amps at start and settles to 7 amps

@ Viper, thought this was incorrect overnight so  have rechecked with another meter, blown the fuse 1st time and now have amended first post to reflect true findings.

glad you got it sorted, the glass fuse will generally go 15% over their rating .

Zebedee

It's not the glass fuse I was concerned about its the 5A in the bike.
