Amazing...  I hear turbos too :)

I dunno what they're throwing round the track here at Monza today, but it's bloody loud!  Probably some kind of testing...

Debs

I watched the Australian F1 and love the sound of the new cars.

Lonewolf

I dread to think how quiet they are likely to be in 2016! I'm not into motor racing but I liked the 2013 roar.  :mfr_lol:

BigAlan

I remember being at a testing session with Williams in 1990 at Silverstone and knowing what car was gong down Hanger straight simply by the engine noise, the V12 Lambo was the loudest by far followed by the Ferrari, i remember Damon Hill doing a practice start for the sponsors on the pit wall and i stuck my new £1200 camcorder up the rear and away he went, blew the microphone in it, i got it replaced under warranty.

The more noise the better for me.

Alan
Ducati owner now but I used to have a Black one, the fastest version.
Previous, Sprint ST (2), VFR 800, Fireblade's (4) SP1, VTR1000, GPZ900, CB250, BSA Bantam D14/4, Suzuki TS100, SX200.

Boomer

We have a caravan very close to the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France.
A few years ago I awoke to the sound of a car screaming around the track.
Ella asked what it was and I listened carefully for a second and then said "Ferrari Formula 1 car".
Later that day we were in Bandol having lunch when a red van pulls up and 10 uniformed Ferrari F1 mechanics got out.
Smug mode ON!

I'm not keen on the new sound. Too quiet and grumbly, and the turbo/ERS noises are just wierd.

One of the best sounds i have ever heard ( apart for a Merlin engine ) is an F1 Power boat on full chat doing an inland test on lake Garda, truly spine tingling.
get a grip and deal with it

Well, after watching that clip, "Attend F1 Grand Prix" has now been removed from my bucket list.

Thanks charlie for that pity about the background tune's, BTW one of our favourite runs is through Melton Mowbray through Bourne onto Grantham, Boston, lincoln, Market Rasen, Gainsborough, Retford-- Home. Good all day run brilliant roads, and in particular the Pork pie shops in Melton Mowbray, have to stop and have one, bit like going to the seaside you just have to have fish and chips.

OC - The 166 sounds awesome, i was at the FOTB mallory a few years ago and there was a porcupine there and they fired it up, WOW what a beautifull noise.
