Has anyone any thoughts on instant puncture fixes/sealers like gloop or similar. My only experience of such things was many years ago, about 1975 on a garage forecourt in Llanbedrog, North Wales, trying to fix a back puncture on my CD175 and spraying the well presented flower beds with this white crazy foam stuff (remember that eh?) and the garage owners playing merry hell It went all over the place like something from a horror film, laugh? I nearly bought a round!

I had it in my old Yamaha XJR a few years back, (it came with it) but I wouldn't put it in by choice. Keep your tyres in good condition, the correct pressure etc and you will dramatically reduce the risk of getting a puncture. If I were to get a puncture now I'd just call out the AA.

Hi

Instant puncture repair cans do work but only on small punctures. Apparently some cars come with a can of the stuff rather than a spare or spacer wheel.

I tend to rely on the Recovery Servcies to come and put a temporary plug in but when I touring or on group rides I tend to carry around a puncture repair kit + a mini compressor (it doesn't take up much space) and comes in handy if somebody else in the group has a puncture.

on long journeys (especially abroad) i keep a can of tyre weld handy, but other than that i'm with routemaster, and rely on recovery service.....i have reservations about masking a puncture on such a heavy and powerful bike, i'd rather know it was there and deal with it accordingly ;D
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

With any temporary puncture repair, whether it be a temporary plug or a can of sealant it is designed to "Get You Home" and it is recommended that you shouldn't exceed 50mph.

Kind regards

If you use Gloop or Slime or similar in your 1400GTR tyres then be prepared to buy new Tyre Pressure Sensors @ £160 a pop.
They gunge blocks the sensor. A few of our American brethren have done just that.

Not worth the money even without that particular problem.
It's a PITA to clean off and really isn't much use in bike tyres.
Also, if you rock up with a tyre full of that crap many tyre places will refuse to touch them.

Buy an emergency plug kit instead.
I don't even bother with that.
I just have an RAC card!  ;D

Thanks Boomer I never thought about the pressure sensors. it was only a thought as I always carry a plug kit.
