Very good, a similar principle (pack with grease) can be used to remove stuck bearings, however your shoe will not be any use

Its surprising how much wine is now bottled with screw tops, apparently nothing from the quality is lost by bottling in this way, I even got a bottle of my favourite Chablis with a screw to only this week,

Wasn't there also a method of opening a bottle of wine with a length of knotted string, the secret being to get the knotted end past the cork and then pull it out

I've never tried it as I've never been that desperate for a glass of wine
