You need enough miles to get some normal heat into the tyres, so much less in the dry of summer compared to the cold and wet of winter.

For those of us with tyre warmers ( ;D ), an hour on them is perfect for getting new tyres perfect from the first mile.

Tyre warmers? That's what the first roundabout is for isn't it?
I find that I warm,.... sorry wake up at about the same rate as the tyres warm up.
So, about 2 miles from home I am awake and ready for BANZAI mode!  ;D

Just had original Bridgestones tyres changed at 7500 mile service. Rear just about worn out at 7500 miles but hopelessly squared off. Front two thirds worn out and the technician at Bolton Kawasaki explained it was out of round, which will explain the slight vibration at high speeds earlier this summer. Well spotted that man and thanks. Replaced with Michelin roadsmart 2s which I found absolutely ace on the 1200 Bandit and so far seem pretty good on the GTR. Will let you know in a couple of thousand miles.

The later you brake the longer you go fast.

So far very impressed, the original oe Bridgestones although a bit skittish in the wet were on the whole very good and lasted 5 thousand miles which I was happy with. The Dunlops feel a lot more secure in wet conditions and as you would expect with ANY modern tyre are very grippy in dry conditions, steering is unaffected and overall just appear to be  a very good modern tyre that should suit most peoples needs. The only question left to answer is (How long will they last)?  and of course we shall have to wait and see for the answer to that one.   ;D ;)

hi guys,
had a puncture on the rear in the summer,(original tyres,1700 mls) nice big puncture hole so had a new pirelli angel on the rear, anyway sunday was brill bit of weather so off i went for the day, dark when i got home,so washed the bike off with the security lights on.
let the bike run for 10 mins to help dry,in the garage to dry off with a cloth, when checking the tyres over the front rh side is wearing quite considerable, (mileage now 3200).
having read the threads here this sounds about the tyre life to me! lol.- but,,,,,,,,,,,,
any thoughts why its wearing on the one side?? it has worn equally around an before you ask,no i dont hammer it by any means,an im only a fine weather biker!

I have found this with 3 sets of Bridgestone tyres on two different bikes, the part of the tread half an inch right of the centre line wears more because are roads are generally crowned - i.e. the lanes slope slightly down from the centre line to help with rain water run off.

Only noticeable near the end of the tyre's life though.

As an aside, I am getting a second set of PR3s on Friday. Current set has done 9,500 miles, and even though the rear is very close to being described as bald, the turn in and grip (wet or dry) is still astonishing.

Simply magnificent tyres.

Sorry Martin, but it has nothing to do with the road crown.
Read the following article. It is quite interesting and makes a lot of sense.

I agree about the PR3s. Best tyres I ever fitted to any of my bikes.
