ive been offered a deal on a stelvio jacket as retailed by Kawasaki a few years back,

has anyone on here ever had one, ive bought non goretex items in the past and always been disappointed. I know the stelvio is not goretex but its advertised as waterproof and breathable, how good is kawasakis breathability.

im sure it will keep me dry , but other waterproof items ive had still get wet inside due to the non breathability ??

I don't know for sure about this specific item of clothing, however it does have a Dainese look about it, obviously the Stelvio Jacket has been made for Kawasaki to market exclusively

I reckon if its Gortex and Dainese originated that it'll be very good, I recently bought a Dainese jacket and trousers and its miles better than my previous HG stuff, which was also good  :yes:

If it's owt like the top box it won't be up to much ,  I can never see the point of having a jacket with a water proof  inner membrane. , it means all the outer is soaked , better of getting a windproof  and comfortable jacket , one that can be well vented , then buy a waterproof  over jacket , keeps you warmer and rain off, :biker3:

If its the same as a BMW rally jacket, the sort with a waterproof zip out membrane I wouldn't bother....

Never been as wet or cold as when I was heading back from Poland into Germany in the pouring rain, and the outer soaked up the wet, leaving only a thin membrane between me and the cold... :nono:

ive had a hein gericke cruise jacket for several years now, its goretex, the outer shell does get wet but the water has NEVER got through the inner goretex lining , ive never been cold in it either as it has a quilted inner, ive never been wet through sweat either  its awesome and I cant fault it, its just looking very tatty now and the now ones are many beer tokens !

we bought some waterproof spada touring trousers last year , went out in them on a dry day , came back absolutely soaking on the inside due to them not breathing , even had a bit of nappy rash, never worn them since !

Oh sorry, :oops: :gun_bandana:  my choice of wording is misleading, I should have made it clear that I was suggesting that if it was Goretex it would no doubt be a good jacket

You say this jacket is  advertised as waterproof and breathable, and that you trust it will keep you dry then why not trust that its breathable

The jacket is obviously marketed as a branded item for Kawasaki

Buy it and try it, unless others advise you not to do so  :wink:

 I have had a stelvio now for 2 years bought it at the bike show for £95 reduced from £220,i have the dark one. i can honestley say it is the best jacket i have ever owned, totally waterproof, lots of pockets, too warm -- infact i have removed to inner lining because of this, even in deepest winter. The high vis attachment is easilly removed in seconds for cleaning, the lower back pouch is ideal for storing over gloves / boots etc. I can't praise this jacket enough, i would advise you to get it you will not be disappointed.

Just as a matter of interest i also have the Kawasaki trousers, and winter gloves, brilliant. The kawasaki clothing range is really good quality kit, lets face it, like the bikes its not cheap crap.

OC has the right attitude, don't diss anything until you have gained valuble knowledge of the product.

get a grip and deal with it

I bought a Ginza leather jacket, from the show 2 years ago, It had been 420 sqid.             135 sqid from the riders club stand. fantastic quality. :grin:. I dont think Kawasaki put their name to stuff in it's not spot on.  :smiley:

from experience Ive found that it is easy to make items waterproof but they sruggle
at making them breathable, ive got a wardrobe in my garage with all sorts of motorbike clothing that is not goretex, frank Thomas, trousers, spada trousers, all keep the rain out but keep the sweat in and I said id never buy non goretex again.

Zed meister, many thanks for your feedback on the jacket, as you said it never made you sweat I guees it must be breathabe then.

do you have the beige one then, what is the high viz bit you speak of, im not seeing that , is it yellow on the back?

The hi vis is a velcro attachable unit that is a large 'V' on the back ---  comes to the top of the chest via over the shoulders each side at the front ( to where the dark patches are on the picture ), a really good fit not flappy. It also comes with 2 x belts, a high vis one and a colour coded one. It also has 4 x zipped air vents very good in summer, brilliant circulation. I strongly recommend you have a look at this jacket. As said i have the darker one, predominantly black.

The UK site is back and working, think you are getting confused with the ZG/GTR forum.  :wink:

Do you mean you have bought a jacket?

:mfr_lol:

Just to help me with English(US) if:-

trouser = pants
jacket = ???

In a forma life I used to wholesale the Dainese range for the then UK importer.

The first leather suit manufacture to design a 3 dimension suit (by that I mean a design that is not a front and back design or as we used to call them flat suits)

Not cheap but a unique and  high quality product :popcorn:
