Yes Deb, had a lot of interest on the 'other make'  :whistling: of tourer cages too, so seemed logical to help anyone out with the GTR cages.

Hopefully going to stock more bits from MC in the near future.

Thats awesome Ant... When I change to a newer model I will be after a set...

Thats good to know, and I can see why looking at that picture of Baby on its side.....the bars quite simply paid for themselves on that one occasion.

Wish I had had some on when I laid mine down in France this year, luckily a passer by managed to help me just before it had full weight on its side else the top fairing would have cracked meaning a lot of £££'s to repair. Still ended up with a ripped calf though and a bent crash bung -----never putting them on again, bikes too heavy.

Ant please correct me if my sums are wrong.

If we bought them direct from the US I understand they would cost us $300 for the Canyon Cages & $175 for the pannier guards plus $106 for shipping. That's $581 which is approximately £364 for everything, front and rear protection including shipping.

You're selling the Canyon Cages for £239 & the pannier guards for £140, so £379 in total.  I thought we were going to try and organise a group buy to bring the price down.

Apologies if I've got the figures/prices wrong but the price seems to have gone up.

According to my calculations:

$300 + $175 + $106 = $581

Which is £368.80 in English money

Now lets add in the Uk taxes

3.7% of £368.80 customs = £13.65 + £368.80 = £382.45
20 of £382.45 vat = £76.49 + £382.45  = £458.94

£15 handling charge (estimated) = £15 + 458.94 = £473.94

So I make the cost of an individual purchasing it from the states directly to be £474

I reckon its a saving of about £107 if you can negotiate the local shipping

Also bear in mind that AC-LRP direct must confirm with UK consumer law which protects the purchase, and would have to deal with any warrantly issues etc

You can use this site to calculate the duty: http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/

Note it doesn't add in the handling fees with Royal Mail and others charge

in a nutshell , you are forgetting about the 20% and other incoming charges, even if Ryan marked them as a gift , you would still have to pay under new laws.
