Booked up for the RTTW this year, not been before

I've been a couple of times and found each visit to be very moving. I took the below photo in 2009 and to this day it still strikes a chord because of the enormity of loss of life.

It's a great event. Below link to last year's thread including pics.

Better to be old and grey than the alternative!

Gonome

Just thought I would post a few pics from yesterday's ride. Great day out although sobering as these events usually are, but very important to support.

Gathering of the "troops" at Cambridge services.

Madingley American War Cemetery, final resting place of 3812 American servicemen and women who were crew members of British based American aircraft during World War 2.

Wall of remembrance containing names and details of over 5100 service personnel missing in action. Every state of the Union and District of Columbia is represented.

Attendees gathering for the service.

The service of remembrance.

Poignant reminder that not all families of the fallen are able to have a focus for their grief and can achieve closure.

It's good to see that so many people wanted to pay their respects in this way, thanks for sharing.

TBH I never even knew that this memorial (Madingley) even existed in the U.K  :embarrassed:

I can only echo what Gonome says, it was a great day, very well organised.

Very sobering, but good to see that level of support, and that there are still many people out there that still care, and are determined not to forget the sacrifice people make to maintain our freedom.

I will certainly be at the Ride to the Wall in October.

Gonome, it was good to meet you.

OC, well worth a visit if you are in the area. SB, good to meet you too and thanks for the chat. Look forward to seeing you on the RTTW. Did you find out who was on the Silver GTR? Did not see PCPete's green one either although he was due to attend.

Gonome, will see you in Oct, although with all those bikes going, maybe not
