I bought mine secondhand but advertised as New. The camera comes with a Remote to allow you to activate the Laser pointer guide and START/STOP recording. When its switched on, the Bue LED lights up. When its recording, the Blue LED flashes.
Heres the kit

I decided i wanted this mounted on my helmet but before i do, i want to relocate the LED inside my helmet so i could see the camera ON or RECORDING. The remote was simply velrco'd to the the handle bar switch.

So off came the 4 screws and cover to the laser/LED. This revealed a small 3mm blue LED.

To relocate the LED i used a few of these connectors, if youre a Tamiya fan youll know exactly what these babies are.

I de-soldered the LED and push it directly into a male connector.

I then re-soldered a set of connector leads to the original wiring.

Next i filed a notch out the the cover and replaced it.

Now with the new connectors fitted, i tested it to make sure it was still working. The lead allows me to dismount the camera from the helmet.

Next i set about mounting the bracket to my helmet. Theres a variety of ways to do that and each application is different so i wont bore you. But heres mine mounted.

Ive done a couple of vids to test the picture quality. The sound, as suspected, just turns to wind noise the faster you go. Just waiting for them to upload and ill post them up. All in all i paid just over 50 quid for mine which came with a 32GB card, im happy with the quality of the picture, it is quite clear but judge for yourself. Will locate the mic and see if i can dampen the wind noise.

Heres the vid, nothing exciting, just legal ;-)

Not sure on battery life but you can buy spare batteries, they are NP120 camera batteries.

Hi

I have the same camera but mine is mounted on the Adventure Bars.
For the price its a pretty good camera, I have the remote mounted on the tank so that I can start/stop the recoridng on the move. Sound is ok and being mounted on the Adventure bars it will pick up the engine noise. As for the battery it will last about 3-4 hrs of continuous recording.

Kind regards

Steve

Cheers steve. Ive looked on ebay and you can get a home/travel charger plus leads and 2 batteries for about 14 quid, so i might get that for spares. Im planning a ride to Ireland in June.

While youre on, do you happen to know where the mic is? is it the tiny hole behind the laser on the cover?

Very good, and the vid quality is ok, adapted to light changes fairly quickly.

The quality there is very good when its played at 720 HD. Excellent bit of kit. If you want to get rid of the wind noise you can do so very easily in a video editing program.

KeVstrom

Yeah im happy with the quality and decided to record the tunnel as i knew it was gonna be dimly lit, plus the other footage could be a bit incriminating!

Im gonna try a bit of foam or sponge on the mic when i find it. Like those mic booms.

That camera seems to tick the boxes as far as motorbike use is concerned.

I have a GoPro Hero which is great but suffers as it doesn't make it easy to switch on or off whilst  its in use, particularly whilst on the bike.

The quality of film with the HD 720d and the fact that it is also waterproof are great plus points.

I personally don't like helmet mounted cameras, and have my GoPro mounted under the left rear view mirror, which works fine, although it also suffers from unwanted noise when recording.

Kev I don't think I'd want any sort of LED light inside my bike helmet as to me it would be yet another distraction, I can see that it would still be fine when mounted somewhere on the bike though, if the mic is mounted towards the front of the camera then maybe a piece of sound suppressant foam or something similar to that used on a helmet mic boom would do the job. ?

Since I pposted I see that you have already hit on the mic boom 'foam' idea

Excellent - and nice explanation too :)

Aha! But it wasn't dimly lit when you got inside it - Nice to see your HID lights give the same bright pattern on the wall of the tunnel as mine

Hiya

I must get a couple of spare batteries, as I was out today on a 300 mile round trip and on the way back the battery dies part way through a very good section of road. Videao will be posted in a couple of days.

I believe the mic is at the front, I tend to edit out or reduce the volume when editing the video's

Well the mics not the tiny hole by the laser, i tried covering it up and doing a voice test, it didnt make any difference.
