- you like the original B'stone 021s on the GTR ?

.
Yep, everyone else seems to hate them, but for me, and my kind of roads/riding they are better than anything else that I have tried so far.

- interesting observation there.

- personally , my gtr was absolutely transformed when the stock B'Stones were taken off and replaced with Angel STs. Handling was improved almost like night and day.

- there was only ONE thing which the stock tyre was better at , and it was v.high speed stability (ie , after 230 kmh / 140 mph) because of the much stiffer carcass.

Yes, but Is everyones bike not transformed, and handling  improved,        when you have just removed a knackered pair of tyres that are deformed and completely worn out,   and replaced them with a brand spanking new set.

- took the stock tyres off before they were worn out.

- the front had developed the trademark scalloping and into the bin went the fr + rear tyres.

- before going to the Angel's , had thought that the way the GTR handled was just as the reviewers said it did , ie , heavy steering and needing to be muscled in the corners.

- after the Angels , the bike was sublime in the corners.

I may just try the Angels next     What mileage have you done on them?

I am extremely careful with my tyres and always ensure that I ride at the correct pressure's which will minimise punctures.
I mai punctures in 40 anni.

I too am using Pirelli Angels, so far have covered around 7 -800 miles on them. Stock tyres replaced at some 1500 miles, when the TPS sensor "Low Battery" warning came on for the rear. I thought it better to invest whilst the tyre was off the rear rather than wait until spring, when dealerships tend to be fully booked for weeks on end!
The Angels have performed very well so far, the only problem being a flint in the rear that drove deep into the case only 100 miles or so after fitting (noticed by the dealer when I went back for the front to be fitted, that was awaiting delivery earlier).
I chose to replace the rear again rather than take chances, especially as my daughter usually tours with me in the spring/summer.

Hi, What does this scalloping look like ? its not a ridge towards the outside of the tyre is it ?

Its also known as cupping and kinda 'feathers' the outer edges of the tread pattern leaving a lip on the tread cuts

Under braking the blocks of rubber in the tread deform and move slightly rearward, and the leading edge of each block get a bit more work to do and wears faster.  Rub the flat of your hand around a tyre and its quite noticeable

- yes yes.

- its a "waviness" along the thread block.

- this occurred early into the life of the stock tyres (approx 3K miles).

WTF!!
Red warning lights this morning - low pressure at the rear and guess what another puncture.  Screw firmly in the middle of the tread.  So it is official I AM UNLUCKY!

I DO run with correct pressures checked with digital gauge and I try not to ride in the dross on the road and in the hatched areas.  I have not changed my riding style and years and years of trouble free riding is replaced with near weekly tyre changes since changing to PR3s!   It is getting a joke now.  I can't afford new rear tyres every 100 miles!!

Went to the dealer to get it fixed and they swapped the tyre with the previous previous one which they had repaired for me.  Thanks to Winston I will run this one with the repair confident that it should be ok.  That saved my £150.  Cheers Winston, I owe you one.

Am now seriously reconsidering the PR3s for something less sticky, more stronger, possibly armour coated!!

Andrew, you've not upset your neighbours have you?? lol

Personally, I am convinced that some unscrupulous tyre dealers sometimes just go out for a drive and sprinkle screws all over the roads. They do seem to go in bursts.

You don't drive past a building site do ya Andrew? Many years ago I saw a chippie drop a 1000screw box whilst unloading his van. He just kicked the box into the gutter and finished his unloading. 2 hours later I went out and they were still there. So, I complained to the site foreman and the chippie had to clear the lot up. Pleased he was not.

Rear tyre punctures are a little scary and a PITA.
Front tyre punctures are  :asshole: :shit:   :help: :helpsmilie:  scary!!!

If you stay up after a front tyre deflates on you you are a riding god,... or just damned lucky!
