New Toys at Work .......

The fleet of bikes at work available in my garage range from some 57 plate 56000 milers to a couple of 59 and 09 and a 10 plate with about 45000 on it .... each has it's own quirky merits and different chaps like to ride different bikes .. "this is nice and quick"... "I like the clutch on this one" etc .. " this handles better than the others" ... etc etc ... me ? I liked the old 57 plate rattler that went like a train and could stop you like an unlit skip .......... off it went for a service last week never to be seen again .... we have some new toys to break in, just in time for Spring.
All tight and sharp in the handling ,nothing rattles, change to 1st gear is certainly NOT so clunky and there is an array of new buttons and wailers and things to push, pull, slide up and slide down .. You can just imagine going to stop someone and muscle memory kicks in ... the button that used to stop the noise was here but now all I"m doing is moving the screen up and down !! It's going to be carnage !
Anyway .... can't argue with a new 13 plated bike. I thank you.

We all had 'personal issue' bikes up in sunny Leicestershire.. Always rode the same one.. And managed to keep the same callsign for 17 years...

Comfy old slippers eh? 

I used to get really pissed off if I'd come in on a late to find someone had borrowed MY bike

Bryn ... LOL ! Know exactly what you mean .. it was the same at my old Traffic Base in Sussex ... almost individual bikes and kit and even in the world of firearms it was "personal" issue kit .. but up in The Met there are just SO many officers that it can't be done .. however it works well and most people know where the bucket and hose is !

Thats the thing that needs to be sorted... Bike left shiny for the next rider... Didn't always work for me ..but I was quite obsessive with the bucket and sponge
