Lowered my GTR last year as I am a bit of a short ass using a HYPEPRO lowering kit. Was easy enough to fit to rear shock/swinging arm and also had to drop font forks in the yokes by 20mm.
My problem was that the bike stood too up right on the side stand, so it needed shorting. Had someone to cut, pin and weld the original stand for me, but there was a niggling doubt that with the GTR been so heavy the cut and weld might be a bit of a weak point. So had a look on the web and found an adjustable side stand in the States, which I ordered and fitted.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_nkw=%09+GTR-1400+2007+2008+Adjustable+Kick+Side+Stand+Kickstand+&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_armrs=1&_ssn=soupysperformance

Highly recommended, works well and fully adjustable.

After lowering bike handles just as well as before and I can get both feet flat on the road. The only problem I have now is the center stand, she can be a bit awkward to get on to. Has anyone modified their center stand or knows of a replacement/after market  one?

Hope this is of help to someone if they are planing lowering their GTR.

You're welcome, I don't know if they will help in a practical way, but at least they do demonstrate that some modification is possible
