Just a quick note folks, I received my reminder this morning from Kawasaki telling me I can extend my Factory Warranty for a further 2 years.  It's due before March this year. The price appears to have increased to £395, I previously thought it was £350. Oh well, the wife says I can still get it but it's quite a hefty increase.

Steve ... mine came through yesterday too ..£395 it is .. unlimited claims and mileage ... I shall pay up .. I would hate to have a nasty expensive shock one day when something goes "Bang" !

Nigel, yeah, I'm going to pay it but I was just shocked at that huge increase. It's probably because of all those claims for seized shocks and paint flaking exhausts that we've all made.  :whistling:  I've just come off the phone with them, I was querying whether they were still honouring warranty claims for seized shocks as I recall reading on here that some members had had their claims rejected. It seems that although the extended warranty is transferable Kawasaki have just told me that if for example you were the 4th owner and the bike had done 35k miles then they would judge each claim on it's own merit rather than automatically just replacing the damaged unit. I told them that I didn't think 35k miles on a 1.4ltr bike was that much which they agreed so it seems a tad bizarre that they should use those parameters as an example.

If I have a faulty component and the bike/part is covered under warranty I want to know that the part is going to be replaced (if necessary) with the minimum of fuss. They informed me that they now have a procedure they are using with seized shocks where they 'repair' them rather than replace them. Is this a sign of the times?

I think we all know the answer to that my friend .... where £ can be saved it will be ... we know that from work and the cuts havn't even started yet.
My EW is due in March so a few weeks to go but for me as most others it's simply peace of mind for all that commuting and the occasional trip up to Northern Monkey Land and beyond ....

Lonewolf

Have you got a trip up North planned, I had no idea!  :whistling:

We Northern Monkeys will make him very welcome, just like this  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Hi Guys,
I have recently bought an 11 plate. There's no details on warranty in the handover pack (I'm 2nd owner). Can you advise if/who I should contact to find out about any remaining or extended warranty entitlement please.

I'm assuming you bought your gtr private or from a non main dealer or you would either have theses details or be asking them where's the service book for the bike if you don't have that either. in which case, I would give kawasaki customer services a call and explain you have no service book, warranty info or service information, they can then checked if the bike as been serviced as per schedule. what mileage as your gtr done?  on a 11 plate it can't be any older than 22 months, if the miles is lower than 8,000 miles it would not be due it's second service yet, so get it book in at a dealers and get it done. if you bought the bike from non dealer they can still service your bike and stamped the service book providing their V.A.T registerd,  if you don't have a service book get them or a main dealer to order you a replacement. the chances are your gtr would have had it's 600 mile service, can't see anyone paying £12,000 for a bike and not bothering to pay the £90 cost for the first service. so I'm sure kawasaki will still upgrade your warranty if you want to extend it for the next 2 years

Yep, you'll need to get your finger pulled out though. Cut off point for me to buy my extended warranty is the end of February. When I called Kawasaki a couple of days ago they said they were very strict on deadlines,  if you don't extend the warranty by the 26th Feb then it's too late I was told.

Kawasaki will record at their end officially, change of ownership for your original 2 year warranty. It is important that you register the bike with them for any safety recalls, has your 11 plate GTR had the rear brake safety update do you know? If you are not sure call Kawasaki and give hem your reg, they'll check for you.
