The thing I personally like about the transponder is that I hang it round my neck on the lanyard when I go out, and it can stay there till I finish riding.
However having a separate alarm fob does render the convenience slightly redundant.

As for poor design, my ZZR600 had a seat held on by two Allen bolts. Where was the Allen key? In the toolkit. Where was the toolkit ? Under the seat!

Reminds me of the AA advert 'they're in the sand. I'm not helping much am I dad!'

I don't know about other fobs, but mine has a small slot in the corner through which I have easily threaded a doubled length of very strong fishing line which then attaches to a lanyard around my neck

Well, does not seem that anyone has a "cure" for the battery low message displayed after the battery has been changed.

Does anyone know how to clear the message on the dash ??

I would have thought that once the new battery was installed, if you turn the ignition off and then back on again the warning message should have gone.

And you would be correct sir ! This was the case with me when I had to change the battery. However, in my mate's case, he has now changed 3 batteries ( from different suppliers ) and the message still appears. We have gone through the FOB to ensure contact is made etc etc. He will take the bike to the dealer as soon as he gets a chance but would like to clear the message on the dash untill then - and this is the advice we are after - how to clear the message on the dash.

Another battery - fob question, If you buy a new battery for the fob and then carry it around in your pocket as back up, and you dont have to use it for say 12 months, will it still be in good shape to use?

The error display can be cleared after the bike is running by

1 - press and hold the top button on the instrument cluster
2 - press and release the bottom button
3 - release the top button

Note that this will have to be done every time the bike is started until the fob issue is fixed.

I think you will end up with a red warning light showing on the left of the instrument panel, but at least all the other info will be available
