OMG...just how spectacular was that ?

My hats off to all those athletes who despite severe disabilities managed to perform to amazing and outstanding levels, and my heart goes out to every one of them for their determination to overcome.

I'd have to mention Ellie Simmonds in particular who, for me, totally lit up the whole event.

JUST COMPLETELY BRILLIANT.

Closing ceremony on in a bit... looking forward to it... If it's half as good as the Olympic closing ceremony we'll be in for a treat  :punk:

Myself and Lady Rusty had the good fortune to attend on "Golden Thursday" ..... just when Team GB were piling on the Gold Medals .... I thought "Oh go on then might as well pop along" .... WOW ! How amazing was that ? and how wrong was I to think it was "just another event" .... easy to get in and out, the staff, as we have all been told in the papers, were all just magnificent and the stadium itself ... incredible ..... I thought we would be miles away and that I would need a pair of RN binns to see anything ... wrong again .... everything was just there in front of you. Golds in the wheelchair 800m, silver in the discus and to see Mr Peacock win the mens 100m final was just like nothing I have seen before .... 80,000 people chanting his name, then silence then the gun and BOOM .. up on your feet screaming and shouting ... FANTASTIC ... then the medal ceremonies too .... what a super evening for the 2 of us Team GB and the entire UK !!
Here are some pics ... enjoy .......

.... Arriving soon after 7 you begin to see just how big the stadium is.

.... Opposite "the home straight" the views are great .. the noise the atmosphere ....

.... Then it started to get dark but no matter, the lighting was excellent. The 800m wheelchairs are lining up during a medal ceremony.

... Another beautiful sunset as a backdrop.

... If I remember correctly this was part of the discus competition.

... And then it was time to go home, or for me, back to the nick to bed down somewhere on a hard floor before an "early" turn in the morning ........

It was a truly memorable event and whatever the politics and the money the last few weeks have been an amazing achievment for everyone and will have lasting effects that will be felt around the world.
