First time I have photographed both my bikes together.
On the left 2012  1400 GTR, on the right, 1984 Z1100A. Both Mr K's top of the range shaft drive tourer in their time. Z1100A has period accessory engine bars and Hepco & Becker luggage.
The Z1100 weighs 246Kg compared to the GTR at 304 Kg, but only has 100BHP compared to 155 for the GTR. The Z1100 is longer and wider, but has the same wheelbase and ground clearance almost to the millimetre.
Separated in models by the GTR1000

Viper
It first appeared in 1981 at the same time as the original GPz1100. It hardly changed in four years, whereas the GPz changed almost year on year until 1984.

It still has the original discs, the owners handbook is a third of the size AND fits under the seat, and it has TWO locking helmet hooks. Progress?
