I have to admit although I obviously have the fob with me tucked away in a zipped jacket pocket I dont take the card thingy with me. If the bike breaks down it'd be  a recovery for me. I'd be too paranoid that if I had both items with me and I was daft enough to lose both, (its possible)  :whistling:  I'd end up needing  a new ingnition system or something.

As for a spare key for the panniers, fuel cap, £5 from the high street key cutter. They even use Kawaski keys.

I've never tested it but I gather if the bike wont start you hold it near the headstock or something and supposedly the bike should start!

Kwikas If you hold the spare fob ( black thing) in a certain way against the ignition switch, it enables you to switch the ignition on.   And yes it does work.

I knew the fobs did that, but not the card.

The only thing I know is if the KiPass gets stuck hammer at 9 o'clock position

Why don't you just use the ignition key to do all this ??? No need to use the key in your FOB.

- you are right , and that was how my dealer showed me during delivery.

- but would rather not upset the key-barrel/key-knob by removing the knob repeatedly for fuel/panniers. There have been some owners who reported issues with their KiPass operating due to a bent key on the knob. You'll appreciate that the large knob allows much more force to be exerted onto the relatively small key portion.

- anyhow , just got a spare key cut and for my upcoming long ride , will just tie the key to my glove for easy use.

cheers.
.

nb : and I actually checked the manual and confirmed that BOTH the primary fob and also the spare (emergency) fob can be held to the key barrel to enable the bike to start.

Good move Pistole.

Repeated removal is what I blamed for the failure of my system.  The ignition barrel got 'grit' in and it failed.  Common issue.  I had a spare blank cut and used to just keep it in the ash-tray for tank/pannier locks

Ha Ha!
I am just a miserable fool! Worthy of a good response but had to get some "ride time" before I go back to work. Out with mate on his K1300GT - what a great combo! I've got job of planning route for next years euro adventure. This must take us to Austria, Switzerland into Italy and across to France to do the Millau bridge. Stitching some of best biking roads (Europe) together but if anyone has a "must do" route which fits then let me know.

I may have to change my forum name - the image fits !

I've made a spare outta the passive fob, and it's real darn easy job for any auto keys shop, our keys comes with a RFID chip, that works the same way as a Honda hiss system, so got it duplicated and I asked for the chip to be implanted in a Honda hiss key, and it works like a charm till I threw the active fob aside and tap, turn, start, go

Hi all,
I know this is an old posting but how do I go about getting a spare transponder? I have just the one fob which came with the bike (bought second hand) so no 'card' or other fob master....

You can get one from here but you will still need it programming at a dealer..

OR you could get one from a dealer and pay a fortune.. Don't know if the dealer cost includes the programming
