Yesterday, Saturday 7th July 2012 at 12 midday is a day that will not be forgotten too easily for either my wife or I. A simple journey into Bradford for some dog biscuits almost left my car written off and my wife and I with potential injuries or worse.

I was on a two lane carriageway when a van, something like a camper van emerged up ahead from a nearside junction and appeared as if it was going to perform a U turn, (stupid enough on its own), in the mouth of that juction when without warning it mounted and then drove down the nearside footpath at speed towards me. That was a shock in itself but then it suddenly veered off the footpath and into my lane on a collision course with me.

What happened next is still a bit of a blur, I managed to brake whilst swerving to my offside and I watched the other vehicle pass my nearside literally with what looked like a couple of inches to spare. My wife closed her eyes and waited for the impact & even I was waiting for that all familiar crunch as it took my back end off. The other vehicle then stopped dead, started again and then stopped dead at the entrance to a cobbled street at the back of some residential terraced properties. I ran over to it and managed to smack the side of the drivers window but the driver just stared straight ahead and shot off up the cobbled street causing some young kids and women to scurry out of it's way.

In hindsight I should have dragged the driver out or put the guys window through but you dont know whats going on, the driver could have taken ill or something and it wouldn't do to pummel a guy if he was having a heart attack or something, never looks good that on your CV. Straight on the phone to the Police, by sheer coincidence a patrol car just happens to be travelling up the road behind me so I flag it down, and he then discloses to me that it was a stolen vehicle.

I can honestly say that I was seriously shaken as was my wife. I'm not sure how things would have panned out if I'd been on the bike, better or worse, who knows. I've no idea if the vehicle was located, hopefully it has been. If you ever come to Bradford, watch out, there's some nutters about.

Rossendale Rider

That's an horrific scenario for sure. I'm afraid the red mist would have descended on me and I would have given the scrote the good news; heart attack or not. W
Glad you and Mrs Wolf were ok. Did your dog get its biscuits?
Be Careful Out There!

Rusty

Glad to hear you and Mrs Wolf are ok ... I have told you before not to go anywhere near Bradford !
Strangely enough I  am just about to pop out to get some dog food .... think I'll stick to Sussex.

The dogs were oblivious to our near death experience and happily chomped their biscuits. The vehicle has apparently been located, minus the driver, no surprise there. SOCO guy will probably get a bit giddy when he finds a beautiful, clear hand print on the drivers window only to discover then that its actually mine.  :mfr_lol:

Was there a helicopter in the sky? Maybe you'll be on TV on one of these police chase programmes?!

I'm  glad you clarified that the dog biscuits were for your dogs, after I read your first post I though that you and Mrs Wolf had hit on hard times, and YOU had resorted to eating dog biscuits  :sweatdrop:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to hear that you are both ok though.
What would you rather be   or a wasp?

I have eaten doggy chocolate drops before and gravy bones but that's a different story.  :mfr_lol:
