I've had quite a productive day today. I managed to change the air filter without any snags or complications and I have also changed the coolant. Both jobs were considerably easier than I thought they might be.  ;D Dont forget I am like Mr Bean when it comes to mecahnics.

I wasn't too sure how much coolant the system needed but I was informed by Bradford motorcycles where I bought the coolant from that the bike needed 3.4 litres. Has anybody else done a coolant change because I am not convinced it needs this much. I filled the radiator up quite slowly to avoid any trapped air, although its quite difficult to avoid getting some air pockets in the coolant as you add it. I filled the reservoir up to just fractionally below the maximum marker. I've purged the system and I am satisfied that the radiator is suitably full but so far I have only used about 2.5 litres. I've run the bike and monitored the temperature guage and everything is fine. In fact I've never seen it run so cool. I had it running for five to ten minutes and the temp guage never moved and then eventually it moved to one bar. Previously it would have been running so hot the fan would have kicked in.

I cant see anything in the owners manual to help.

I have to say even for such a big bike 3 1/2 litres would seem a lot ! There must be something in the owners manual ... either that or get down to Specsavers !

Lonewolf

Nothing in the owners manual and I've been using Specsavers for years.  ;D

It would appear that there is something in the manual, not where I would have expected it to be though. Why dont they put important info like that on the pages where it is actually telling you about the coolant?

Anyway, yes it is 3.4 litres. Job now completed.  ;D
