The kawasaki topbox, the lock mechanism and the overall quality of the monolock is poor in comparison to the better monokey ones. So im gonna dump my nice colour coded kawasaki branded box and go back to a non matching monokey v46 ect, anyone else found this

O.C.

can't say I've much if any experience of the Kawa top box, I've allus relied on GIVI

And who do you think made the Kawa top box?
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Had and used mine nearly three years - carried way over the recommended load in it all over the continent and UK and never had any issues with it.

its made by givi , but the lesser mono lock , generally aimed at the scooter market  , the lock quality is renowned for being its weakness

i used to have the monokey v46 on my 12 and miss it.

+1 never had a problem with it.

Sw Motech rack ( Simple solid and well made but pricey) and Kappa 53 (Same as Givi but cheaper) Good combination and fits the bike nicely.

maybe ive just had a bad one then !  i had my old givi monokey for several years over three bikes and it was great . Ive had nothing but problems with the lock mechanism on this monolock kawasaki  type , key just keeps jamming , ive had the lock apart the other night it its just flimsy plastic parts .

That'd be Kappa, the cheaper sub division of GIVI   :mfr_lol:

As the chap on the video clip says the Monolok boxes are just not as substantial as the Monokey ones, But bloody hell it's just a box, Why does it have to be built like a tank, just to carry your underpants about?. Some people are getting paranoid about certain things. My Kawasaki box is overloaded all the time, but has always managed to get my budgie catchers to my next destination without drama.
What would you rather be   or a wasp?

Why carry your underpants in a topbox? I thought topboxes were for bringing home bottles of Newcastle brown. I have the standard Kawasaki top box with no issues over 18 months and we have packed it to the brim on trips to Scotland, Wales, n Ireland and France in that time. Similarly my last Bandit had the cheaper version and did us well and is still used by myself or my son on his Sv650, even though a 46 litre box does look a bit silly on an SV. The only issue I have had in 6 years is losing one of the rubber buffers.

Chris ... we have been here before with this !  :whistling: I am with you .... nearly 13000 miles, top box in use all the time .. stuffed, sometimes light, sometimes heavy .. never an issue.
