I will be collecting a 2009 at 9am.  This is for a day's hire.   Apart from reading the marketing on line and, more importantly, the views of the Olympian Pundits (Greek meets Indian!?!) on this site, I know bugger all

To cut a long story short  :embarrassed:   Can you  :ohplease: give me any tips on setting up, whatever can be set up, on the suspension.

Me: 6'4", and, with full riding kit, 18.5stones.   Not sure I will get much info from hire place; loads of scooters and a few bikes.

Just because many do it does not make it right. Just because many think it does not make it true.

Just take it out and enjoy. Even if its not set up for optimium performance re your weight you'll still get a feel for the bike and know whether its something you can adapt to.

There's the shock thingy you can adjust. Next to left pannier

As lonewolf says, take the bike out and enjoy it. Take your time getting the 'feel' of the bike you won't be dissapointed

Suspension adjustment should be set to 'standard' which should suit you fine.

Adjusting the front fork preload is also child's play.
No tools required.
Just turn it one way or the other until it feels right.
I had to "softened" mine when I got it because the bike felt too bouncy for my taste.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

If it feels like it needs the springs softening a little, just stop at a chippie and have a couple of pies, followed by fish and chips. That usually works.
What would you rather be   or a wasp?

I stiffened mine as I thought it was a bit soft (Ahem! )

I think it's a matter of preference and riding style.  Comfy armchair or wooden seat! lol

Easy to do though... If ya PM me Ill send ya the mechanics service manual on PDF via email.  Useful to have for any fettling you may want to do.

I'm 6ft 4 and the best part of 19 stone, all I have done is two click in on the rear and bike seems to cope well enough like that,
