Insurance related, i have been on some comparison sites today and every one when i put the reg of my bike in came back as a ZZR when i know for sure what i have is a GTR.

So, looking at my logbook, the V5 bit it states in the Type a ZGT40C and the model ZG 1400 CBF

What does yours say?

If its wrong them i am one unlucky guy because i had a Sprint for two years which when i came to trade back in was registered as a Suzuki X7 and had to sort it with the DVLA.

Thanks
Alan
Ducati owner now but I used to have a Black one, the fastest version.

Alan, the type and model number that you have in your log book are correct for a 2011 model year GTR.  mines says the same too

Some insurance companies struggle to find exact models of bikes, and cars for that matter, if they dont appear in their drop down menus that they use when quoting for your insurance. The same problem can apply when trying to complete your own insurance on line.

You'de think that in 2012 they would update their systems to accomodate each model.

It is important to be sure that your insurance company know exactly which bike you are enquiring about or have actually got

Mine says just the same as yours, but  had  no trouble with getting insurance sorted.

Just at renewal - can you suggest any good insurance companies to try?

For the last 5 years I have just punched my details into the MCN insurance page, just fill your details in (ONCE) and it will bring up lots of quotes, with all kinds of prices (but most with same insurance company), and then take your pick.  Easy peesy.

Thanks - went with Bennetts seemed to come out cheapest overall.
£167 but with £250 compulsory excess and no voluntary as well as all the usual legal, leathers, European cover and RAC

I used MCE this time.  £50 cheaper than the rest with free RAC breakdown cover.

Swinton tried to stiff me with a 25% increase.  Why is it that insurance companies do this at renewal?  :hammer:  I always end up changing companies every year because they think we're too lazy to check the market.  Hello, it's 2013 with online comparison sites  :single fuck:

Was going to go with Bennetts but my saved online quote went up by £20 the next day, so no thanks.

Previous insurer was MCE but like you with Bennetts they tried increasing my premium. So this time after shopping around Bennetts got my cash - see who wants my business next year as I don't have any loyalty were my dosh is concerned  :)

I once had the same problem at renewal time when my GTR came us a ZZR, I simply told them it wasn't a ZZR and they amended things. Pete as for a reasonable insurer, have you ever contacted Adelaide, they give reductions for Police, IAM etc. I've been with them a few years now and have found them to be the most professional insurance company I have ever dealt with.
