That it does. I have back issues and my better half also has problems that are both limiting my riding. Started both bikes at the weekend and even sat on the 1400 and blipped the throttle. BrooomBrooom 🤣

I hope you didn't get too frustrated about the 80kmh limits on their main roads, and worse the endless 30kmh limits in every town and village. It takes forever to get anywhere in France these days unless you use the Autoroute/Peage.
Look forward to your writeups if you haven't bailed from here like I did.

Thanks George.

I managed to catch up with Steve as well. I'm sure he'll explain what's going on in due time as well.

Old age sucks.

General Discussion / Spam and stuff

Firstly, let me apologise for not being proactive  on the forum so much. I didn't realise so much spam had built up.

I think I've cleared most of it up. I might have inadvertently removed more than necessary, but nothing major.

I'll work on preventing spam in the coming week.

The reason that I haven't been on the forum is because I've not ridden my GTR for a long, long time. It's been gathering dust in the garage. I've got to that age where health issues (mainly around my joints) have meant that riding the GTR was a no no. I was aiming to get it out a few years ago but then went backwards in my recovery.

The reason I logged into the forum was because my joint issues are much much better and I've got the itch to get back on the bike. I needed to refresh my memory on servicing etc and where better to do that but on the forum.

Given that the GTR is no longer manufactured, I guess this forum will have a dwindling user base. But it does have lots of good info which is why I've kept it going, albeit at a loss. Hopefully some people still find the info here useful, like me today 😊

Genuinely hoping to be more active on the forum. I'm aiming to get my bike ready in the next few weeks so will defo be here reading up on stuff that I used to know off by heart.

Once again, sorry for the spam.

Hey all,

recently picked up a GTR1400 Concours. Loving it so far. Couple bits of work to do but will search the forum before I start asking too many questions. Have got nearly 600 miles on her this week since I bought it.
Here's to many more happy miles

Tomorrow I will be filing the panniers ready for an early start 10/07/25 for this year's trip.

I've given the GTR an oil change, new oil and air filters and swapped out the shaft oil – I'm wondering if not doing the plugs will come back to bite me, but I chickened out. It's also had a new Angel GT on the back, I think there's enough meat left on the front.

The map shows an approximation of what I hope to achieve, although the Bing map has calculated on motorways, which I will largely be avoiding. The true route will be more direct in some places and decidedly more wiggly in others.

You cannot view this attachment.

If I survive it I'll let you know how I get on when I'm back.
