General Discussion / Official Top box
June 21, 2014, 09:26:47 PM
I have just ordered from Kawasaki UK a top box with Colour matched insert. I'm a bit miffed now as I have just learned that this box is a Monolock, not Monokey. Being the official box I would have thought they would have used the monokey, being the better system. Paid £247.00 and a tad disappointed, should have purchased a Givi Monokey and got the lid painted to match the bike.

1400GTR Discussion / First impressions.
June 21, 2014, 08:59:27 PM
Well thanks to the advice and reassurance about purchasing a 2010 1400GTR I picked bike up from the dealer on Saturday curious to see how it differed from my FJR1300A, first thing was just how wide the bike felt, for me this was a big bonus as being 6'3 I felt it would offer me much more protection against the wind and elements. Secondly, on the FJR when looking at the mirrors, I had to put my arms close to my body to enable me to see behind, on the GTR this wasn't an issue due to the lower location of the mirrors. The screen doesn't offer the same level of wind protection but I'm looking at getting a taller after market screen to remedy that. Riding position on both the FJR and GTR felt very similar, performance, again very similar, although once I'm used to the GTR that view may change. Both bikes looked  similar, both were blue and kitted out with full luggage etc, in fact, if I haven't told my kids I'd changed the bike, they wouldn't have even noticed. Early days but I think I have made the right choice in choosing the Kawasaki. Just need to find a good GPS mount.

Welcome Marcus, I'm sure that Saturday will soon arrive and that you will be a very happy chappy
Picking it up tomorrow, just had call from dealer saying she's already to go. Well pleased.

Thanks to all your views regarding this bike. I went to the dealer in Nottingham this morning and purchased the bike, bit of a bummer I can't collect till Saturday but then it's going through the workshop. Really looking forward to riding it, just hope I clock up more than the 800 miles I did on the FJR1300 I managed over 16 months. I'll keep checking the forums for any planned ride outs. ( unfortunately not one of my friends are into bikes) again, thanks for the reassurance.

I have sold my  FJR 1300 and want to replace it ASAP. I have found a 1400GTR 2010 model with a full Kawasaki service history, the bikes in lovely condition and a nice colour. My only concern is the mileage, is 40,000 for a bike like this to much and will I just be getting into something that's on it's last legs. Price of bike is £5400. Shafts are my biggest worry with this kind of mileage, am I worrying to much or is 40000 nothing for a bike as long as its been looked after. Not sure what to do.
