Yorkshirepud, now why am I hungry all of a sudden?

Well Jim, that's because you simply don't do proper roast dinners in North America.  I spent a month in BC this year, and that was the only thing I really missed about home, the food! :-)

Well, not an infringement, more of a technicality.

It transpires, as I only drive on a Monday, but work in an unrelated industry the rest of the week, I still have to record every hour I work on either an approved analogue chart, or on a digital roll, in the correct format, for every day of the week.

Just keeping a diary is not sufficient.

It's amazing how laid back and friendly this forum is compared to some.

I registered on trucknet today, only one person commented, and that was to pickup on a possible tacho infringement due to having 2 jobs on the go.  He was right as it happens, but a friendly hello would not have gone amiss.   :whistling:

If your buying a bike to ride and use, you would not buy a harley.

If however your buying a bike to pose on, polish and admire, and not loose masses of cash every time you fancy a change, well nothing beats a harley in fairness.  :mfr_lol:

1400GTR Discussion / Re: Extended Warranty
July 19, 2014, 06:51:46 PM
Well folks just thought I would give a little update to this.

Just to say thanks really to KUK, I took out the warranty and paid online.  Got a quick email back asking what size did I want for my free rain jacket.  XL.  So it arrived the next day.

So it was too small. So I emailed back, kuk said send it and they would swap.  So I posted Thursday and the replacement arrived today, Saturday.

You can't get better than that.

I must say, I was I bit dubious about spending £395 on a warranty, but for 2 years, and if this is the level of service I might expect, I 'm sure it will be worth every penny.

Just one bit of advice if anyone else like me is about to do the same, pick the next size up from what you would usually wear.

Good luck reporting that to the Police and actually getting a crime number.

That's a civil matter.  The boy's in blue won't be interested at all.

I sent some goods out mail order to an address which later incurred a chargeback to our company, which is fraud, and a criminal matter, however I then had to drive to 3 police stations' to get someone interested enough to take a statement.

They didn't even bother going to the address.  Your insured aren't you? was the main comment the police made.

You will probably find in the small print somewhere there is a "continuous authority" clause for payment by card, which they will use as a get out.  It's wrong, but hey not much is right in the world come to think of it.  :hammer:

Jenni: Hello, you are now chatting with Jenni
Andrew: Hi. I'm visiting leeds next week on a training course. In scarborough we don't have to pay in an on street meter parking pay if riding a motorcycle, is that the same in Leeds?
Jenni: Hi let me check ..b
Jenni: Just on with Parking services now..
Jenni: okay they have advised that if in bay to purchase a ticket and keep on you and you will be likely issued a fine but ticket will stop this. However there are free motorcycle bays around the city centre ...
Andrew: Ok thanks jenni. bye.

Well that's the answer then.  Either way you probably get a ticket and have to fight it.  Like most councils, cure is better than prevention.  :stupid:

OK will try that

The argument used over here for bikes not needing to pay and display is you can't place the ticket anywhere secure where it can't either blow, wash or be taken away by someone.  Unless you have to put your reg number in the machine that prints the ticket, I can't really see how they can treat a motorcycle differently.

Can anyone from West Yorkshire answer this?

In Scarborough, on the on-street meter bays, you are not required to purchase a pay and display ticket to park in them.

Does anyone on here know if this is the same in Leeds - I have read the "A-Z Leeds parking" on the council website - but its not specific either way, in fact it does not mention motorcycles at all albeit a short section on "solo motorcycle only bays".  Have to go to some training next week at the Raddison Blu.

Thanks Guys.

Stopping distance 180-0 1600' if something pulled out on you 3 football fields away and you decided to stop 1sec to react 7secs  of braking you would still be doing over 60mph at point of impact. (Sourced from Internet)

Sent from my iPhone by mini Elves.

Last year on they way back from Basel to our hotel just south of Baden-Baden the best we managed 176Mph, and 42 miles in 18mins (Garmin GPS speed, however the speedo in the car was cock-on) at 1am, basically to finally try and max out my (at the time) de-restricted E39 M5.  It still had theoretically another 10Mph left, and felt it had much more,  however I did not have enough road or balls left to carry on.  We passed the sign for our junction 1km away, by the time that had registered in my brain and braked, we only just made the ausfarht.  That car had a brembo brake upgrade with 6 piston calipers too.   I wasn't exactly emergency braking granted, but it was hard enough to make the front end bog down and squirm a bit.

The autobahn in the area is unlit, it's a dual carriageway and is not as straight as you think!  A few lorries but for the most part, empty at that time of day.

Anyway the point is, 1km sounds a long way.   At 180Mph, that's a mile every 20 seconds, or a half in 10.   Try that in the dark.  :ninja:

I used to love speed, but I love life (and my license) more, so I sold it.    I was not braking the law as it was stretch of autobahn with no limit, but I know I was exceeding my limits.

The guys in this video are crazy, and they give the authorities who view it a box full of ammunition to justify more and more "road safety initiatives"

If you want to take a short tour of northern Italy through France I would do the following.  A good 2 days tour.

Follow the south coast route to Monaco.  Doing the monte carlo thing is fun, then carry on into Italy staying on the coast to Ventimiglia, its only a few miles from the border.

From Ventimiglia, turn North and stop on the E74 through Breil-sur-roya (lovely old town in a valley) to Cuneo.  That road has the most amazing scenery.   Once you get near Cuneo it does flatten out and becomes boring.   You can continue towards Turin and head to the lakes and the more ridden mountain passes like stelvio etc. but if your pushed for time, head toward Pinerolo, then onto Sestriere and climb to the top, the back to towards Sauze D'oulx.  From here the quickest way back to France is through the frejus tunnel, but I would take the mountain pass (D1006) from Susa  to Modane. This road is amazing, with a stop at the lake and church at the summit.  Its toll free too.

From Modane head towards, Albertville and Annecy.   Lake Annecy is a great place to stop at, or anywhere on the lakeside really, and it's an easy day ride from here to Calais on the toll roads, or a couple of nice touring days on the national and d's.

It took me a while to focus in on the Peli case because of all the clutter in your garage.  :mfr_lol: Now that I can see it, it looks fine, I used to have one for my camera gear, & they're as strong as an ox.

Grass doesn't grow on a busy street, nor do innovations happen in a tidy garage!   :gun_bandana:
