The Market / 2009 Blue GTR for sale
August 22, 2018, 08:34:07 PM
Hello everyone,

my beast is sadly up for sale,  as I am off to live in Thailand at last. It has just passed 20,000 miles this week and I have owned it since 2014.
I only put 2-3k on it a year and it is serviced by Frasers of Gloucester, who installed a new ignition system at a cost of £1150 not that many miles ago. (1000 ish.) 07/17. I don't ride it too much as I have a Superduke that I knock around on now mostly.

I have a Cal-Sci touring screen on it, with the OEM screen coming with it. A Garmin Zumo  Sat Nav mount installed (needs hooking up)
.
Anyone seriously interested, I will get it serviced before sale, flies through its MOT every year, due next April. Tyres good, Michelin Pilots,
only 1-2k Givi Topbox and Kawa Panniers .
I have looked on fleabay and Autotrader and I think I will price to sell and beat the others out there..will describe the bike in detail with photos to any interested parties. Rock solid bike needing a loving home..£4,500 ono
Cheers, Phil

Looking for a new bike commuter 30-60 motorway miles with some longer trips- trying to justify the price over an old honda but got a 4-5k budget. Any pitfalls/unusual servicing requirements. How does it compare to the blackbird.

How did your search go? I am relocating to Thailand and my 2009, just reached 20k miles might be up for sale to an interested party.
In fact I will post it after talking to admin.
Pm me if you like. Phil

General Discussion / Re: Great Job Officer.

Cool guy, especially after seeing other videos of US cops just shooting dogs when police approach houses uninvited.

Great outcome, you could see the dogs were in a state of high anxiety but not bad in themselves. Need more cool heads like this , well done dude.

Good to meet you all last night, couple of local recommendations:

Great home cooked pub food, bit of a local secret is the Yew Tree Inn at Peterstow, just outside Ross a couple of miles up the Hereford road. They also have a cider farm, just behind the pub, Broome Farm and a shop where you can buy their cider. (I am not connected with them, but it is a bit of a special place.) if you like you can have a wander through the apple orchards and check out the farm, lovely people.

Enjoy your ride out today, Brecon and the Black Mountains is a good day trip,

Cheers,

Phil

Hi, I am going to replace my Calsci XL back to the OEM as I am removing the risers from the handlebars for a trial period. Never ridden the bike as it came from factory as the risers were already fitted.

The only problem I have is that the fasteners for the screen have been burred by a monkey boy, (Not me!) and I need to replace them with new ones.

Could anyone tell me where to source them from( the fasteners) please?

many Thanks

All I can say about the Pyrenees is Wow, stunningly beautiful and roads obviously built for and by bikers. We went from Santander to Zarautz near San Sebastian, a nice surfy dude kind of town but not living the dream yet. next day from there into France via Santesteban onto St Jean Pied La Port...the first incredible scenery and roads that have not stopped since. Hairins, twists, narrow mountain roads, hard work on the GTR, but just breathtakingly beautiful.
We found a Gite for the night, by chance, near Artemits and wanted to go back into Spain because France is a bit heavily Policed and samey, if you know it you understand.
]Down the N134 to the tunnel and just after a glorious blast down a long curvy road with a Spanish CBR1000 and his mate following us as we blasted the mountain cobwebs out and risked a ticket at very nice speeds.

Tonight finds us in Castejon de Sos with Paragliders and mountain bikers. Many bikes and friendly waves along the way, and the road N260 is just beyond good and must be ridden, laptop battery nearly gone, no adapter, will post pics when more connected. Best biking experience of my life so far.

Hi Folks,
sorry I missed the meeting in June, had a family thing to do in Thailand.
Back now and squeezing in a cheeky week in northern Spain, me on the beast and a pal on my old VFR.  :biker3:

Plan is to do a couple of days in the Picos then the rest of the time in the Pyrenees...a la Ride mag recommendations.  It will be the first proper adventure on the GTR and is well overdue. Taking the Go Pro and really looking forward to a great week. Any recommendations per must see places or good hotels most welcome,

All best,

OB

Just got the bike back and it was the battery being slightly underpowered after the lay up. Bit annoying as I could have charged it up myself but after seeing the "Immoblisor Error" message I did not want to take any chances of being stranded somewhere with a non starting machine. My other bikes start after months of non use so I guess the battery is an old'un. At least no dramas with warranty or complications.
Just ordered a new set of boots, Road Pilot GT4's for next week.
Happy Trails
