As a seasoned ST rider I would swear by Avon ST and last longer  (8k if you ride carefully)

I could not agree more and I so very nearly bought the 1200GT last year as an ex demo when the 13 came out.

I realise this review doesn't talk about the other big touring bikes, namely the BMW and Pan European. The Pan isn't a sports tourer, but just a tourer. No doubt its a good bike (my friend has over 150k on his) it just didn't have that appeal. As for the BMWs I test rode the R1200 RT and the BMW k1300GT. Both excellent bikes that I would have but just on cost the Kawasaki beats them hands down. The K1300GT I would seriously consider but since the new 2010 1400 GTR model made an appearance I believe the Kawasaki is better value for money and provides the better handling of the two.

Hello everyone , Robert here from Leeds. Just ordered my 2010 model from Preston Superbikes for £11,399 so please with price. I am a larger man and at 6'3 am looking forward to an extended screen.

I currently ride a Triumph Trophy 1200 and have done for nearly 10 years. I hope this one lasts as long

Hopefully picking up in March so I can be the first 10 plate in the yard at work!

Serious competition between 1200/1300GT but opted for Kawasaki having experienced such a fantastic engine on Triumph which I believe was Kwak anyway.

Look forward to chatting to you all and no doubt my first issue will be tyres I am an Avon ST Azaro/Storm man through and through.

Regards

Robert
