No i was fine it was only a very low speed accident about 20 mph , it was in the isle of man on a wet day i came off the roundabout and went round a slight bend and they had just finished laying the road and left about 2-3 inches of gravel ontop which i suppose was left to other cars to press in but the front wheel just dug right in and threw me off causing £5900 of damage according to the accessor

unfortunately the bike was written off and it had a two brothers exhaust on at the time so thats why i still have the original and the insurance never asked for the spare  :mfr_lol:

Its a lovely bit of kit very very quick and nimble (slips nicely through slow to stationary town traffic) a world of difference from the GTR  ;D
But i do miss the practicality and comfort of the mighty GTR  :(

I feel your pain Bud, i had an off in the isle of man in may  :-[, a 20 mph slide on a bend on a newly resurfaced road that had a inch of stones/gravel left on the surface . come down hard on rhs causing very similar damage to yours but not engine casings but shaft drive and radiator causing 4500 damage and bike was worth 7500 causing insurance to write it off. I still have the original silencer off it in the garage if you require it for your rebuild its only done 1800 miles and has a couple of marks on the top of the black part under where the pannier sits but cant be seen when fitted (had two bros titanium one on at the time) also still have brand new spare keyfob if anyone requires one (2008 model)

I only Bought mine in December a 57 plate with 1750 miles on it and mine was like this. Starting from cold it took about 3 to 5 miles to start working which was starting to do my head in as other things will not display untill this goes off . When i took the TPM apart i put a volt meter on the battery and it was indeen flat, i think it was 0.25 volts and it is a 3v cell (but would come to life after a goos run??? ) once i replaced the battery it works probably within about 10 seconds ish now ....well chuffed  :) ;) ;D

Unfortunately i didnt take any pictures but it wasnt that difficult. The TPS was removed using a 5mm allen key and theres a little t5 (i think) torx screw hidden under a sticker on the sensor which you remove and the casing of the TPS just pries apart .I just used a very small flat bladed screwdriver to break the 2 small spot welds on either side of the battery and cleaned the 2 prongs with emery paper . With the old battery removed i tried solder on these terminals which stuck very well !! So i roughed up the new CR2032 battery both sides using the emery cloth again and applied 2 small blobs of solder to the battery which stuck aswell  ;) . So after aligning the battery in roughly the right position i soldered it on . You have to make sure that its in the right position because you have to make sure it fits again into the the little plastic box it came out of ( took me 3 attempts) :P
And low and behold it works fine !!!!!

:) well today when fitting my new tyre i took apart the TPS and managed to pry off the old 2032 battery and resolder a new one in place  ;D Only problem i had was i had to really sand down the new battery to make sure the solder would stick to it and also soldering it in the right position !!! put it all back together and works within about 50 foot !!! well impressed as i went to the dealers and the sensor was about £190 and then fitting and coding to the bikes ECU !!!!!! So it pays to have a go because at the end of the day it was knackered anyway  ;D

Thanks for the wake up call Lord Rusty i went out and got a new front tyre today and its like a totally new machine now well impressed ;D . With regards the pressure i was going to reduce it to about 37psi not put more in that would make the handling much worse .
Also thanks to Norman for the advive on tyres and i think i am going to invest in the pirellis next !!!
                     Many thanks guys :)

Mines doing the same !!!!! front tyre low battery !!! Its only a cr2032 keyfob battery so i have Araldited a piece of wire either side of the new battery left it overnight to set solid , just checked voltage with a meter which was 3.2 volts at the end of the wires so no poor connection and i am going to solder it to the circuit board leaving the existing battery in place (in series) and i am going to to secure this to the tps with a few cable ties !!! let you know how i get on soon guys!! ;)

1400GTR Discussion / Squared off front tyre
February 04, 2011, 09:53:07 AM
Can anyone help me with this please, i have an american import concours14000 2008 non abs model with 2000 mile on it . I only bought it a couple of months ago but when cornering for the first time the front tipped in and i nearly had to put my foot down to stop me falling off it (brown trouser moment) :o. When i bought it it had a new rear tyre fitted but old front but with plenty of tread left they are both bridgestone 021 sport touring tyres .
Immediately checked the tyre pressures which were low so i have adjusted them to 42 psi . It now is not as bad but still doesnt go round bends very well . On closer inspection the front tyre is squared off but still has plenty of tread left on it. Being a tight arse i dont really want to have to buy a new tyre and was wondering what sort of tyre pressure you would use to maybe compensate for this? untill it rounds off (if possible) . They obviously didnt have many bends were this bike was used previously !!! :P
Any help guys would be greatly appreciated .....Cheers :)
