1400GTR Discussion / Re: Queastions to ask on purchase?

Thanks guys. I've posted in Vipers thread regarding his machine.

Regarding the exhaust paint flaking, is there an after market alternative that looks in keeping yet doesn't sound like an elephants arse on an atkins diet?

Thank you for the input. Its a great list to be armed with.

Viper, do you have some images of your bike that you could post?

I'm in the market for a 1400GTR and its a cash purchase. I didn't plan on getting one until the new year but.....

Not having owned a bike for many years I wandered if you guys and girls could give me a few pointers on questions to ask when purchasing a second hand GTR.

I didn't expect to be getting one until after Xmas but there's a 2010 just come up locally, this is it:

Engine Size: 1400 cc

Colour: Brown

Year: 2010

Mileage: 11921 miles

Good condition machine with 11921 miles on the clock and full dealer service history. This is the later updated model with specification that includes ABS, traction control, heated grips and a higher windscreen now fitted as standard. Accessories fitted include a Givi colour co-ordinated topcase. The bike has also been lowered and fitted with some handlebar risers, but we are able to put back to it´s original spec if required. Complete with a 6 month warranty and road fund license and 1 year MOT. Please note this vehicle is not at our showroom so please call to arrange a viewing.

Welcome mate, there's plenty piss taking one here so don't be offended    :whistling:  [/color]
Its good to be amongst people who can take it as water off a ducks back. I remember a time when forums were so touchy that'd been considered trolling with an instant ban. Thank god these peoples forums die a death.

I do have a few questions on purchasing a bike which I'll drop in the correct forum.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and good luck Paul. Thanks also Gazza, I'll have to pop by when I get the bike.

Thanks everyone. I imagine that I'll come to regret my underpant admission. Bugger.

Looking forward to meeting members on a run at some point.

I've been toying with getting a GTR for some three years and almost purchased one 2 years ago, but I bought a yacht instead. I was happy with yachting single handed but found I was getting mullered every night I slept on the yacht, unsociable too being single handed.

So, after many nights dancing alone around the deck in my underpants whilst singing songs I never knew, the time has come to be more sociable and act just as much a reprobate in the company of you guys and girls. Not sure how many laps of the tank I'll complete though.

Now the yacht is listed all over the south coast I'll hopefully be a GTR owner very soon. Once the decision was taken a few days ago I feel exited, in fact very very excited at getting back in the saddle.
