1400GTR Discussion / Bolt size help needed
February 21, 2021, 05:08:49 PM
I am in the process of restoring my GTR. Strip and repaint of the wheels and rear swing arm inc final drive , I have however been stumped by size of the rear bolt for the diff one bolt that holds the diff onto the swing arm.
Is this a special tool from kwak? I have 28/30/32 ans none are close
Any advice appreciated

Sorted thanks.

As with any old bike mine has seen some miles, 30+ thousand and the neutral light was harder to find than a pothole free road

I had a time and a half removing the gear position sensor, two screws holding it in place were seized, the use of a impact driver got them out eventually and the switch removed. Now the switch was ok other than needing a clean, there are two sprung loaded contacts within the gearbox and the centre one was in great condition the one that comes in contact with the outer ring was worn badly, I soldered a spot on that and swapped it for the middle contact and sorted. I have got a positive neutral light that selects every time. I used new stainless steel allen bolts instead of the screws.

Thanks for the assistance guys

Thanks Boomer, The light works and it comes on occasionally but can be very difficult to find and has now started to not show even when in neutral.

Ill get back to you once I have stripped the switch and cleaned it. Hopefully that's the issue?

I have a problem with the neutral light on my 09 GTR, the switch looks like it needs a clean or replacement however where is it? I have checked the manual but find no mention of a neutral switch / sensor,

Ok followed the manual and could not find anything out of place. All tests were as they should be. Checked the voltage again and I have 18v at the battery this time when running!! the dash says 16v.
Unplugged the regulator started the bike and it runs with bike battery only. No faults with ABS no lights and the abs light disappears after you get started. Plug the regulator/rectifier back and I am showing 16v at the battery. Turn it off and start again and I now have 18v again. So its an intermittent fault with the regulator/rectifier. New one to be purchaced.
Thanks for the guidance guys.

Thanks , cleared the code took it for a ride and code back. 5 3 which indicated voltage is over . Checked the rectifier and that's sound . Working through the check list on the fault code over the next few days . Thanks for the reply .

Good afternoon guys, Its MOT time for me and I have just fully serviced the bike, Oil, Filter , Cleaned and re-oil K&N, New Plugs and checked clearances of the shims. I have rode about 1000 miles since and now the MOT is due this week the ABS has started to play up.
I start the bike and set off, the ABS light goes out like it should, then some 100 meters after I set off it lights back up and I have no ABS. I thought it may be a sensor so I have had both sensors out and tested them with a multi-meter and both seem ok. I thought it may be  brake fluid so changed the fluid out and still having an issue with the ABS light and I can confirm I have no ABS when the light it lit. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have the Starcom digital with blutooth adaptor, absolutely great hooked up to my Garmin Rider, clear telephone calls. Rider to pillion is superb as is music at all speeds. Great chatting on the motorway at 80+ (abroad). A real great bit of kit.

I had the same problem being over 6' tall, so I bought a big screen and still had a few problems, I ended up getting a heat gun and heating the top part of the screen up and rolling it back on itself to add a lip. No real problems with buffeting now.
