General Discussion / Such a pity...
April 23, 2015, 05:49:38 PM

It's ironic that the post entitled Tolerance has been deleted for being racist...

Such a pity that the rants of one radical are taken so seriously and a thread that I believe was posted in humor has been deemed racist and deleted.

I don't know Deb's but having read a lot of her posts since I have been on here I would not consider her a racist, or indeed anybody who saw the funny side of the post, nor would I consider myself one, although I reserve the right to become one at any time and place of my own choosing. Freewill you see..

But for the rants of one who linked the post to EDL, UKIP, and some other ( i assume ) right wing British something that I had never heard of, and claiming that to allow the free speech and free will to post and even find humorous the body of the post will be the downfall of humanity.... catch a grip.

I would have hoped the "moderator" would have taken the post in the context I believe it was intended but alas no.. as per coming the norm in this country, those who choose to take offence and rant about it the loudest are the one's who get their way.

It was not a call to arms, or a racial propaganda post to instill hatred and heighten tensions but hey ho... Wolf knows best.

I think with that I will say Adios... Would whatever moderator is on duty please remove me from the member list, time to move on.

Keep the shiney side up folks.

Nice photo's Stoner looks like you had fun...

I must say I like the understated color schemes you have on your bikes there. Makes me want to do something like that to mine.

He was asking around £800 which i thought was pretty cheap for it, was in real good condition too.

Had the oddest back tyre on it though...

General Discussion / New bike and it's a riot....
March 24, 2015, 05:22:31 PM
Went out for a run on the GTR on Sunday and came across a couple of bikes in a front garden for sale.....

So had to stop and make a little inquiry... Needless to say I had to buy it.... the Yamaha SR125 that is....

Bought it for my son who is still only 16 but said we'd get it fixed up before he turns 17 ready for him to start biking.

Rode home on the GTR, showed the pictures to number 1 son, he liked it, thank goodness, and then got her indoors to run me over to ride the beast back... It was a riot.... slightly bent forks as the old fella had hit the back of a car last december, rear tyre was nearly flat, only 12hp when it was new, (God only knows what it's got now) .... got it up to 55mph and then put the head down and it nudged 70mph, which with me sitting like a 20st gorilla on it was a surprise...... and I still enjoyed it for a short blast more then the GTR.

Brought back the fun of biking from 30 years ago... cost the princely sum of £200, Mot'd, taxed, running perfectly, great fun.

So now we've got the engine on the bench, swing arm out and hammerite'd, rear tyre replaced and am awaiting a lot of bits bought on ebay ... forks, chain & sprockets, service stuff etc.... gonna be fun.. I'm looking forward to getting it sorted as much as my son and he thinks it's a cracker.... it's great to see his enthusiasm for bikes that I used to have, for some reason we seem to lose it as we get older and buy bigger, newer and more expensive bikes.

If I had the room I would have treated myself to the beautiful GS425 sitting behind the Yam but unfortunately I don't.

1400GTR Discussion / Re: She goes tomorrow

Funny, was just reading in this weeks MCN a test on the Tracer, gets good reviews.

You didn't keep your GTR long but sometimes you need to live with a bike to see if it suits your real world - everyday needs and you can get the intended use out of it.

I don't use mine much, but the runs I do still suit this big tourer, but can see myself going for something a bit lighter and easier managed at some point.

Good luck and hope you enjoy the new ride just be sure to come back and post some photos and your opinions on it..

Accessories, Farkels and Mods / Re: Horns
February 28, 2015, 09:46:44 AM
Try running two separate + feeds from the relay to the two horns(terminal 87 if memory serves me right).

Don't run a single feed to horn 1 and then a feed from there to the second horn.

Let us know how you get on...

Put a PR4gt on front but as I like my tyres matching will mean I have to spend another £150 getting the back too as well, but Heh Ho it's only money... just as soon as I can spare some. Bike is now bagged for the winter so time to save up again.

It was the overnight ferry Belfast to Liverpool, don't think I'll be taking that route again if I can help it and if I do I will be cabling everything up.

Problem is I can't prove anything but the ferry was the only place it could have happened.

It was the only place the bike was unattended and the Tracker was disarmed, I mean to say like Biketrac have even phoned me one time before because the bike was registering movement  when I was working on it in the shed and forgot to disarm it for a few hours, so cant see any other time it was done, or when any one would have the opportunity.

Hard to believe the lengths some go to but when you think about it its a gift for anybody of that sort who needs anything off a car, or bike as it turns out.

No Debs it was manned by bloody Poles or the like, couldn't understand what they were saying at all.

I'll certainly be cabling my bike up next time on the boat.

Unfortunately this was in June so bit late now to make a complaint to Stena, and hell who'd believe me anyway?
I'm still finding it hard to believe.

That was my thoughts Alan, the overnight ferry gives them a good 8 hour window to do any changing and I wouldn't even expect to look at the bike before I took off.

Still trying to believe it happened, so before I went to work this morning I popped the dust seal off the wheel bearings to check if they were the new bearings I replaced in June, well the grease was black and the bearings had blue grease seals, the ones I put in were black seals, so looks like a complete wheel swap.

What are the odds though? Same brand of tyre and all BT21's.

C**t has probably been just waiting for a suitable bike to come aboard for the opportunity.
Is the ZZR14 the same front wheel? if so would mean it could be a zzr wheel I've now got ,in which case my TPS was no use to them but they did a swap for the tyre.

If it hadn't happened to me I would have trouble believing this at all.....

Next dilemma is... goin to put the PR4 Gt's on at £250 for the pair, but since I now have have no TPS at all on the front do I remove it completely from the back and just put a car valve on it too? at least then I can use "slime" or the likes to prevent punctures, even though I know that not having the TPS's will impact on the future value of the bike.

I could have done without spending this money at the moment but thieving bas**rds never think of the repercussions on others.
#13
Well it was annoying me, so kept working at it and just got the bead broke, guess what, no TPS.

That's a mystery, cause there definately was a silver TPS in wheel and I was getting a reading in the dash so go figure.

Now I know what happened to my tax disk as well then.

Some thieving scumbag.  :2guns: It's the oddest theft I know of.

Only place I can think of is the Ferry, they would have had plenty of time to do whatever they wanted, the biketrak was disarmed, they wouldn't want the theft discovered so replaced a dodgy part, ie a wheel with a shit tyre and no TPS.

Still defies belief though....
#14
LOL... I've already tried and can't get the bead broken, will have to go to a tyre shop, so will ring round a few tomorrow.

Don't know if I'll get much sleep tonight wondering about it.

#15
Yes Neill, just checked, the weights look to be the same make, so indicates fitted at same time, which was before I bought it.

Unless as Viper says it's possible there is a tps attached to this valve, my tax disk really did just drop off and there is some reason my front tyre has worn so quick, then it could be my wheel ok.

Can't say I remember the black valve though... LOL

FFS I'm getting annoyed now....

Won't know till I get the wheel of to see.

Thanks for the replies guys...
