I managed to fix it, so it works now.

I used sewing machine oil and a piano wire to work the pins. It is 5 pins, not 6 as a suspected. After that we felt sure that the lock actually was open but jammed on the outside of the cyliner and impossible to twist. So I used a small pincer to force the key. And finally it open.

No, I can't turn the key, and I have pushed down.

The problem is the lock and the pins that are jammed in some way.

The lock is much cleaner now compared to when I started. But I'm most curious over if there is 6 pins in the lock. Because if it is I think it is the lowest one that is the problem. The top 5 pins move perfect.

Is it possible to remove the lock? I removed the 5 screws around the cap but I didn't manage to remove the lock. And I don't want to bend...

1400GTR Discussion / Can't open the fuel tank - Urgent
August 07, 2013, 06:25:04 PM
Sorry for my poor english here... (Several words that I have problem to translate...)

The lock in the fuel cap has jammed (verdigris). I have used 5-56 oil and compressor air to blow the key hole clean. Now the small pins (5 of them) moves fine but I can still not open the lock.

Is it 5 or maybe 6 pins in the lock? Because if it's 6, it may be the lovest pin that is jammed. I can clearly feel 5 pins when i push a paper clip (metall) into the key hole. I think also the second and forth pin from the top doesn't come out all the way.

I can only drive 70 km with the gasoline I have so I need to fix this asap.

Any good ideas of how to fix it???

What I like with the GPS in Contour +2 is that you know were you are in the movie when you play it. And also altitude and speed. I don't see any value with the GPS when you are actually driving the bike.

Have you tried the Contour +2?
With that you get GPS also, so you know where you are and your speed an altitude.

Mounted my new Givi E55 today, together with new Kawasaki Gel seat, BOS exhaust and a Pyramid hugger.
The givi plate is very rigid and it is a bit tricky to get everything right. It took almost all day. I also installed the Givi break light into to box. Everything is very well prepared and fits perfect. The only thing is that the instruction totally missed the electrical installation into the plate. The plate is prepared for a hole and you need to knock the plug out with a hammer and a screwdriver.

Battery is ok. 3,26V. And everything works, except the "Transponder Low Battery" message is still there...

Hi, spring time!!!

Just got the "Transponder low battery" message and replaced the old battery with a new one. BUT the message is still there...? I have checked the new battery and it outputs 3,26V.

Do I have to reset something or what's the error?

Haha, less hair than a billiard ball

I just mounted mine with a little help from my wife. It's good to have someone to help hold the pannier.

1. YOU NEED A HAIRDRYER!! Otherwise it's impossible to do the job.
2. Always have a wet surface and use a spray bottle. I used about half a liter for two panniers.
3. Be very precise and fit the tape at exactly the right place. If you miss a little in the beginning it will be worse at the end... Especially in the turns. Because you don't get them in the correct place.
4. Fit the tape towards the inner side first (it's the easy part...) and then work towards the outside.
5. For each section work from the middle and out to the outside ends.
6. Do one section at a time
7. Hold the hairdryer with left hand and use the rubber scraper (squeegee) (whatever it's called) with the right hand and press gently.

Note. I had to redo the job two times on the first pannier. But now it looks really good.

Good Luck!
