Went there in '10, on the way back from Tolouse.

People talking/chatting on the way in.

Everyone silent on the way out.

Suprised how big the town was, had a tram system as well.

A lot of the headstones and tombs had the same date on them, very sobering visit.

Not too many German number plates in the Car Park either.....

Dear All,
Have been in contact with a Mr. Gary Chaffey, UK Sales Manager at Molyslip Atlantic Ltd (01865370032) about the scarcity of MS60%, what with Honda not producing it for the UK anymore, and it would seem to be only available in large amounts from the USA, so I suggested that he/they sell it in smaller amounts.
Lo and behold!, he was up for this, and it's now available in 100g tubs!
You will need it for your shaft & splines, at about every15,000 miles, so drop him an e-mail to order some.
If anyone else out there in 'motorcycle shaft-drive world' needs it, post this link onto them.

I have NO commercial interest in the above product or Company, just putting the info' out there for all.

1400GTR Discussion / Re: condensation/warranty

What! you mean you have the temerity to ride your motorcycle in the rain!

Me, I'd phone Kawasaki UK and complain like a bastard, drop the Dealer in the crapper, and ask them what the £400 extended warranty is all about, bloody cheek of the 'man'!
Might be worth mentioning that you're part of the GTR.UK Forum too......

Accessories, Farkels and Mods / RAM Mount (Central)
January 04, 2014, 04:08:58 PM
Yes, I have been to the RAM UK website, however, does anyone know what their part number is, for the 'threaded rod & 1" ball' type mount that fits in the middle of the top yoke?

Thanks in advance,
Nick.

Well, what would it be like in your own enviro-suit, and you let a vindaloo ripper special loose?, I hope they have charcoal filters.
Also, what if you sneezed a load of snot into the inside of the lid, not exactly gonna rub it away anytime quick?

1400GTR Discussion / Re: Re-Map
December 11, 2013, 04:53:30 PM
Yeah, I know should ask the man himself, but, when Geoff does the remap and fly pulling business (ooh err missus) does it f**k up the TC?
I have a Delkevic pipe fitted, and I do notice a slight hesitancy on occasions, but can't complain about the (lack of?) power, of course it'd make for a great enhancement to have more grunt, but not at the expense of the arse end getting too frisky! and yeah, I do know the throttle goes both ways, but it's reassuring to have TC, especially with my shitty Avons

1400GTR Discussion / Re: Michelin PR4 are on the way...

My GTR is shod with Avon Ultra Storm 2's, not impressed, but they came with the bike, and sadly still got lots of tread left.
Took it out for a blat on Sunday, had the TC lighting up a couple of times, 8 degree air temperature too, and I'm pretty sure the PR3's wouldn't have done that on the 'Blade, which has more power and waaaaay lighter as well.
Of course it's all about confidence, and in my experience, the PR3's never stepped out, in four sets and two very different bikes, whereas the Avons have done a number of times now...you pays ya money, yadayadayada...

I seem to remember riding to and from work in 2010 & 2011 on my 1400,... pretty much every day, come rain or shine.
I missed 3 days because of a puncture and 5 days because of the snow we had in December 2010.
This year I choose to ride my GTR1000 as it is way comfier, has a less snatchy throttle, has a better fairing, and heated grips.
Unfortunately it is 24 years old and has 172K miles on the clock. Still runs Ok but down on power.

...172,000 miles!....much respect man....

General Discussion / Re: 1400GTR or Pan European
December 04, 2013, 05:53:51 PM
I think the 'Panny' is an 'older' design than the GTR, be around a while, with a few factory upgrades.

Not ridden one, but the various ride reports do like the (perceived?) bottom end pull of the Panny, 'supposed' to be an easier bike to ride at slower speeds(?), seems like BS to me, as the GTR will pull from 25 mph in 5th!, 6th being an Overdrive.

The GTR is, IMHO, a sports bike with a big fairing, it goes like  :shit: of a shovel! It cruises at 100 mph at 4500 rpm in 6th. Various reports bitch about the tank range of 'only' 200 miles, but that is realistically going to be 2.5/3.0 hours in the saddle, so time for a stretch/piss/coffee anyways, and who wants to be in the saddle for 10 hours straight anyways? i.e. the point of the journey is not the arrival, or something like that....

Hi Lonewolf,
In the end I spent the 'monthly allowance' on a rear hugger and headlight protector from Skidmarx.

Looking at the price of stainless steel mesh () I think I'll keep my eyes open for a used one instead.

Fabbing one to size wouldn't be a problem, but getting the curvature right could be a p.i.t.a.

Introductions / Re: Hello From the USA

Hi Bob,
The turbo + nitrous ZX12 must be 'interesting' to ride.....

Oh! to have the 'worry' of riding in Florida in the Winter, damn, that must really suck

Hi All,
Well I managed to wire it all together, not had a chance to try it out on the road, but it seems all o.k.
Will need some strategic loops of velcro I think, to ensure the cable doesn't bounce about in the draught and become distracting, and allowing for quick/easy removal of the whole set up.
Allowed for full lock to lock movement and the possiblity of 2" risers in the future too.
It seems to be the alternative to a permanently wired option, and all in about £20.00.
I kept the 10A fuse in the 12v plug, and the 2A fuse in the in-line Zumo cable, just in case :whistling:

Possibly interesting...

Been onto the Race Tech website, and used their Spring Rate Calculator, it seems the GTR has a standard spring rate of 1.2 kgs/mm, where as they recommend a spring rate of 0.93, the closest being 0.95, so it would seem that the original springs are way too hard.
Don't know if this equates to 25% too much, but food for thought methinks...

I will investigate this matter further, and contact some guys who do a lot of race/rebuild/prep' works, and see what their take on the GTR's suspension is?
Of course there are other items to take into consideration, such as what weight of fork oil, and fork valves, and this is way beyond my level of knowledge and/or understanding.

Watch this space
