The Dark Side / I blame it on the ex-wife
January 17, 2023, 09:19:43 AM
I have had my GTR1400 for over 10 years. I loved every minute riding it.
But in 2020 i married again and she enjoy riding pillion. After a 3 week ride to Nordkapp in Norway i started looking to the dark side. I needed more luggage capasity. So in april 2022 i bought a new R1250GSA. Mostly because it had 3 shipping-containers strapped to the back. I truly hated the panniers on The GTR. Its the only thing i did not like on that bike. Evry time i needed something half of crap inside would fall out.
The panniers on th eGS is a lot more practical. Also the wife is more comfy on the back and she stopped complaining about backpain when riding on bumpy roads.
My financial situation would not let me keep both bike so i let it go. I hope it have found a good home.

At the moment im very happy with the GS. It is not as fast, but i love the tourque and all my new toys, like cruisecontroll.
If my ex-wife did not leave me in 2016 i would still had my GRT, so i blame her!

I upgraded from Autocom to Bluetooth when I bought my Schubert C3 helmet. It was a big downgreat. I miss my autocom and might fit it again if I start riding with someone on a regular basis again. Also better if you want to listen to music

I use a Givi tankbag modified with a SW-motech evo tankring on my GTR 08. Lifts the tankbag over the glovebox

[quote You can bike 125 cc from 16 yrs...?
Here, belgium, can bike only +50cc from 18 yrs ...

That's because you're led by a bunch of do gooding fun hating gits who make our rules even though unelected by us, roll on brexit  :hammer:

Yes 50ccm and 125ccm from 16 years. Supervised you can start riding on public roads when you are 15 years old. At 18 you can ride bikes with max 35kw and 20 year old there is no restrictions if you started at 18. If you don't have 2 years experience with motorbike you need to be 24 to have no restrictions.

Which train are you going on? I went on the Dusseldorf to Vienna train and was plenty of room with the screen down, and i have the kawasaki tall screen.. You just have to crouch down as you ride on.

I could do with my baby being higher  :mfr_lol:

Sounds good. Going to Hamburg but don't remember name of the German station close to Basel

Thanx guys! Need to load it into a train. And need to declare height to buy a ticket.
I have the bike with me but nothing to measure with. Anyone know the height with screen down?
