Did you ever race the srad or 6r? I did have a srad for a short while. Brute of a bike. Loved it although it was slightly too big for the track IMO

Different tyres have different pressure recommendations. Generally 42/42 works fine but some tyres are better with lower temps. All depends on your riding style

General Discussion / Re: Filtering

Always think before you filter. You are creating another line of traffic and cars won't be aware. My rules:

1. Over 30 mph no point in filtering
2. Read the situation ahead
3. Look at the positioning of the cars before you go through. Tyres give a clue as to where the car is heading
4. Don't sit in the drivers blindspot
5. Where traffic is merging onto motorways there is significantly more chance of cars chaging lanes
6. In the wet the white lines and cats eyes will make the bike slide about
7. Don't hesitiate to use the horn
8. Always be planning an exit

Prefer watching rather than reading. Long way around and long way down are good if you can stomach Charley Boorman

This one's a must http://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Roadcraft-Police-Handbook-Motorcycling/dp/011341143X

No idea when they are due, but imminently as the UK site has just been updated with the new colour.

From the eu site looks like there will be a grand tourer version. There a doc with all the new features and better pics of the green

http://www.kawasaki.eu/_download.asp?Fp=Objects/00046505.pdf&Fn=1400GTR+Grand+Tourer

Looks like

47L Top case
Interior bags
Tank pad set. These look like they are transparent, showing the colour of the bike beneath
Protective film. Seems to be panniers only
GPS bracket

Personally, I'd go for after market. Wonder what the price will be of the GT?

For winter I'm considering the ContiSportAttack. There is a specific version for the ZZR 1400 which is the version I'll be puchasing. They will wear quick, but for winter I want the best grip.

Interestingy for the road attack 2s, the website lists a C fitment for the BMWs so a GTR fitment can't be too far.

Accessories, Farkels and Mods / Re: Removing the flies
October 13, 2010, 11:39:01 PM
Some riders in the states have pulled the flies without issues. If you are going to try this with the intention of undoing the mod bear in mind you will probably need new screws and some sort of mild agent so they don't come undone. Don't use any agent medium strength or above as you probably won't be able to get them out again.

Have you thought about HID for the main lights? In comparrison to the rest of the lighting they look weak.

Is the GTR more complex? In particular, I am puzzled by maximus' comment that the head gasket would be disturbed.

A faux pax from me? I must have been drunk!
Part number 11061A which is the head cover gasket is what may be required.

If nothing else you will get a great deal of satisifaction by perfoming the procedure yourself. There's an old moto that applies here. "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail". Ensure you have planned ahead which will make the process alot easier. Remember that you don't have to use Kawasaki shims as Honda or other 3rd party ones will do. Patience is the key. Don't rush. If you have access to a camcorder then record the whole procedure because fitting everything back again is a bitch, and there is always a loom or nut that is out of place.

Purchase a quality electric cordless screwdriver. I have a Dewalt DW920K-2. Expensive but well worth it. You'll be amazed how much time you save. Once you get to the engine 1/2 and 3/8 tools are also a bitch to use, especially when torquing. Invest in some 1/4 size hex and torque kit. Purchase a new head gasket just in case. If the existing one is OK, then its a case of if its not broken, don't fix.

Consider that Kawasaki already made a major change for the 2010 model, they are most likely to make minor modifications. Increasing the capacity of the fuel tank would be one change that would be most welcome as would CC

I believe the 2011 model has been announced in Australia. The green colour looks more like a British Racing Green

Is due to be announced in November and the colours will be Kawasaki green and 08 black. That's the rumour going around at the moment. Looks like the US red is discounted for another year.
