General Discussion / H2R at The Bike Show
November 29, 2014, 05:55:03 PM
I went to the NEC yesterday to the motorbike show and was so impressed with the Kawasaki H2R.  I was at the Kawasaki Riders do in the evening and they fired it up and took it through the gears. IMO every bike should have an exhaust that spits flames like the H2R does, God was it loud and I can say I have never heard any bike sound so loud, now I have never been close to a moto gp bike so guess they are the same? Just pure exhaust porn to my eyes and ears, it even glowed red down the exit of the exhaust.

Well done Kawasaki for building such a beast, cannot see it getting through any noise test for track days even if you could afford one.  If apparently spins the rear wheel in fifth and the Japanese test rider backed out of a speed test at 231mph as he was in danger of taking off ( it's full of little wings on the body work) and yes it was still accelerating!

1400GTR Discussion / 2015 screen retro fitting
November 29, 2014, 05:45:00 PM
I was at the bike show yesterday looking at the revamped GTR and was wondering if the new screen with slot can be retro fixed to a 2011 model? I cannot believe that Kawasaki have changed the mechanism. Does anyone know?

Hi Vicking, never mind the crash bars can you tell me what type of seat have you on your bike in the pictures.  I like the look of it?

Cheers

I had a power commander fitted to mine and it set up on the dyno at BSD in Peterborough.  The bike had a Two Brothers pipe on it when I got it and it ran rough and hesitated at around 4000 rpm.

They also fitted a K&N at the same time and it now runs as smooth as you could wish through the rev range.

Best money spent on the bike in my opinion and the guys at BSD are so helpful and knowledgable as they seem to set up many race bikes but really listened and asked how and why I use my GTR as they then mapped the bike to suit by needs and riding style.

I will go for one or two, sounds ideal way to recognise fellow forum users?

Can't wait for the report, I am thinking of doing the same ride in 2014 to the Moto GP as when I was down in Imola this year I met up with some Brits who had done it and said it was a fantastic ride there and the track is fantastic.  So Looking forward to hear how it goes.

Totally disagree with what people are saying about not fitting power commanders especially after changing the exhaust.  I brought my bike with a 'Two Brothers' end can already fitted and it definately had a flat spot around 80mph in top.  Fitting a power commander and time on the rolling road by someone who knows what they are doing has transformed the bike, it pulls like a train through the rev range and is much more useable.

I suppose you are all going to complain that we should never fit after-market exhausts and we deserve what we get?  Personnally I hate standard exhausts but prepared to be shot down in flames :gun_bandana:

You may have been asked but who's seat is that, is it a one off or is it from a seat company?

Think I met one of your party this morning at Folkstone at the services there just before the channel tunnel.  I was on th 11 plate black GTR just on my way home from Imola having a spot of lunch outside Subway.

Hope you have a great week as I did and the rain had cleared in France when you got there.  It lashed down between Reims and Calias this morning and boy after complaining about the large fairing and screen in the Italian heat how glad was I off it in the rain.

Like I said have fun and ride safe.

Well nearly made it back, I'm at my last night stop in Riems France before getting the tunnel back tomorrow Wednesday and then the chug back up to Peterborough.

The trip and the bike have been fantastic, the ride through the alps both in Italy and back via Swizerland were the highlights.  So far the bike has performed without a hitch (should not have suspected anything else.  With nearly 1900 miles riden so far the GTR is a real mile muncher, the weather has been really hot with most days in the mid 20's.  Must say the fairing and screen is brilliant for stopping the rain and wind but it also shields you against a welcoming cool breeze, not that we usually have that problem in the UK.

I have achieved an average of 53 mpg so far and whilst I haven't been caning it I haven't riden with fuel economy in mind.  Wondering if the Power commander and getting the bike set up on the rolling road has helped it out?  I certainly don't have any flat spot in the rev range like I did before the set up and also my Two Brothers exhaust is now not popping and banging on the over run just sounds so sweet on acceleration.

I was a little worried about going on my own (my brother in law let me down at the last minute) but i met some wonderfully freindly people on the way down and at the track at Imola both Brits and other nationals.  So will definately be planning another WSBK / Moto GP trip next year and would happily set of on my own again if needed (though the better half has suggested already that she will fly down to where ever I go and just go pillion for the race days.

Oh yes and I nearly forgot Sykes got the double at Imola on his Kawka RX10.  What a way to top the trip off.

I am off to the WSBK round at Imola this week from the Peterborough area in the UK. Taking three days to get there and then three days home early next week.  Really looking forward to the ride down, it's my first long tour on the GTR and really hoping to see if she's really built to be a true mile muncher? Not sure if I am though.

I am getting the Eurotunnel over on Wednesday so expect to see some guys heading to Assen, looking forward to heading to the warmer weather in Italy rather than holland!

I have booked some cheap hotels rather than lug a tent and associated equipment with me.

Yep, world superbikes.  Taking three days to get down there from the UK and then there on the Saturday and Sunday and then get back home by Wednesday night. I am looking forward to the ride down and back more than the racing which will just be a bonus.

I tried changing from bike mode to car mode and it definately made a difference.  I asked it too take me from Peterborough to Channel tunnel and in the biker mode it took me through the centre of London, i then changed it too the car mode and asked it again and it the went around the M25 all via the motorways.

So for my model it does seem to make a difference?
