Kawasaki tell me that it is a 'Cam shaft monitor sender unit' that has failed. Nothing to do with that flash of FI you can get when going along.

Needs a new unit. Bike won't do a thing with it busted.

Hmm. For my 20 month old GTR then I have only had replaced under warranty :-  Discs, pads, exhaust tail pipe, rear suspension unit, tyre pressure senders, plastic dashboard surround, brake pipe clips and now Camshaft monitors. Total bill picked up by those nice guys at Kawasaki probably in the thousands.

Do I buy the extra years of warranty now being offered ?.

1400GTR Discussion / DEAD GTR. FI ERROR
January 06, 2014, 01:59:36 PM
Got my GTR out of the garage on Thursday. Dead. Had ridden it home the night before, washed it with bucket and sponge. No pressure hose or anything.

Turns over but won't catch. Error reading says FI  Fuel Injection.

Colchester Kawasaki took it away scratching their head.

Any ideas ladies/Gents.

Puzzled from Essex !

1400GTR Discussion / Cplchester Kawasaki

Just a quick word o0f praise for Colchester Kawasaki.

Took the GTR in yesterday for a 22,500 service. We had already discussed the problems with the flaking paint on the exhaust, the Tyre Sensors packing up and of course the notorious Rear Shock adjustor.

I needed 2 new tyres as well and front pads. I'm heavy on them commuting into the City everyday.

Picked up the bike yesterday, and everything done under warranty. Brilliant. Front and back new Pilot 3's too at £250.

Total bill a shocking £620 but that's a full service, tyres, brakes and a free tidy up of the electric wiring that I had 'roped together'.

Good service, Colchester. Thanks..

PS. The showroom is packed to the gunnels with new and used bikes. They are doing some good deals there.

Took the plunge on Saturday, primarily because the missus was complaining that no one could get in and out of a garage that looked like a bloody Kawasaki Showroom. Albeit dirtier of course.
But the van pulled up on Friday and took away my ZZR1400, MY ZX6 and my Suzuki Super moto and on Saturday I went to pick up my Ducati 1198s Rossi Rep.

Couldn't let the GTR go though as she is my commuter and will now have to be my sole tourer too.

I ride a bike just about everyday, 365 days a year and never ever ride without music, pumped in via my Sennheiser earphones. I have tried loads of pairs and the Sennheisers sit in there with no irritating pain against the ear, don't get caught when you put a helmet on and as long as the music is quieter than the roadnoise without ear defenders I guess that I am doing ok.

Pardon . what was that ?

About 20 quid a pair, but normal jack means music or chatting with your mates as you go.

Check em out and then still buy that new rear tyre.

My 2012 GTR has flaking black paint top and bottom on the exhaust, and the Silver end is losing paint too now.

Am expecting Colchester Kawasaki to offer to replace the exhaust and the seized Suspension too.

With full Givi side pannier pack I have taken the ZZR from London to Bosnia Herzegovinia and back in 10 days, and from the Pyrenees through South of France, the Alps, Black Forest and back in 8 days and at  :oops:6ft tall, never ever had a problem with aching wrists, bad back or stiff neck.......but the one bike the rozzers got me on was the GTR......

dURHHH.

I use my GTR everyday for a 75 mile round trip, even filtering through London. It's great.

Not using the GTR and saving it for the odd weekend trip is like............saving money and sex for old age. Both are a waste !

Such a fiddly job getting in between the spokes and discs. Turps though is a new one on me. Do you have to neutralise it after in any way after ?.

Hi Gents, thanks for all your help. Really appreciate it. I shall now wire it in and give it a go.

But with my fingers crossed  :punk:

Thanks.

Mine are horrible.
