My local (free range) bike dealer/fixer reckons that the BT021s fitted to the GTR are 'specials' with a higher load rating, and isn't keen to deviate from them as they are the Kawasaki recommended tyre (also wants to charge £176 + fitting for a rear 'special' BT021).

Kawasaki dealer will charge £130 for a rear BT021 fitted all in. PR3s were ca £180.

I was charged £240 for a pair of PR2's ride / ride out from my local Kwak dealer, they supply GTR's to the Police and they specify PR2's so if they are good enough for the boys in blue they are good enough for me.

Good question - I think we can only speculate as to why do bike manufacturers always put rubbish tyres on bikes when they sell them.

Simply down to cost

General Discussion / Re: Mobile phones & bikes.
July 15, 2011, 07:57:58 PM
In my opinion mobile phones should be automatically deactivated when a vehicle starts to move, as should make up mirrors, shavers, laptops and in ear headphones, on my daily 40 mile commute I see things that just shouldn't happen whilst driving. Rant over!

Ok here is the message that I sent:

Hi I'm looking at buying a single carbon oval for my gtr1400 can you tell me does it have the appropriate bs or e Mark on it and does it affect the fueling of the bike lastly I'm only about half an hour from Hixon so do you have it in stock and can I collect?

And here is the Reply:

Hello Mark

They do have the bs number on the rivet band, there should be no need to reset the mapping
We make the exhausts to order so the earliest I can get on made would be Wednesday next week
I can offer free fitting if you bring the bike over.

Kind Regards

Andy

Looking at the site it seems that only certain ones are road legal, did you buy one that says it's for track use?

I have asked about stock availability on the twin exit ones and as they are only half an hour from me, I have asked if I can come have a look, will update later.

Ok I have a situation that i haven't had on any other bike after half an hour on the GTR my right hand goes numb (no remarks needed!) I cant feel any vibes through the bars and I only ride with a light grip, anyway during my ride to work this morning I dropped the screen to its lowest point and noticed that the numbness started to go, so from that I can only assume that this is being caused by air pressure on my back when the screen is extended, is this something that affects all tourers?

General Discussion / Missing Top Plate Bungs
July 12, 2011, 09:07:36 PM
I have been riding without the top box for the last couple of weeks, I have gone to put it on tonight for the significant other only to find that one of the little rubber anti vibration Bungs is missing, can these be bought as spares?
