1400GTR Discussion / Should I repair before selling ?
August 23, 2013, 06:45:51 PM
Circumstances beyond my control are unfortunatlely forcing me to sell 2011 (Green ) pride and joy.

- problem is I dropped it in my driveway not long ago and tbh if I was going to keep it than I wouldn't even get the scratches sorted .  It's going to cost me £300 to get them sorted (Mirror, side panel and a scuff on rear pannier repaired  - all hardly noticable )  --- or insurance replacements and £400 excess !!

- any advice appreciated ---should i fix it -- or try to sell it as is ??

1400GTR Discussion / Dropped it !!!
June 19, 2013, 12:00:24 PM
Loose gravel - low speed - managed to stay under it once it passed the point of no return and minimised damage. Need n new mirror, front plastic with fins on is scraped, as is the exhaust cover and a slightly scraped rear pannier ( oh- and the grey plastic bodywork that joins the bit with fins on - edge of that is damaged too :(   ------ I live near Newcastle and if anyone knows a good body repairer It would be appreciated ???    ------ )excess is £400 and I don't fancy shelling that out if I could get it repaired cheaper !! )   thanks in advance !

( and to make things worse - on close examination of the damage I noticed a thin nail in my rear tyre which on 'wiggling' it  - air will escape   ---  and lots of wear left in the tyre too    ----- can it be repaired or will that make my bad morning a really shit one ?

anyone actually needed to get one ????    --- any idea of cost ???  --- if as expensive as some on here claim than I'll just have to forget it and have the large fob surgically implanted under my skin !!!!

I'm 6ft 3" and have always only had sportsbikes before now -  if I raise the stock shield all the way up, the wind just hits me full in the face  --- so I just ride with it all the way down - ( only exception is if its raining - then I raise it so the wind clears my visor better !)

- the little clip-on might do the job for motorway cruising for me (I wouldn't get one of the larger screens as I think they look crap and put too much pressure on the mounts ) - do they work ?   -  still seems expensive for a bit of plastic and a couple of brackets !!!!

Accessories, Farkels and Mods / Re: Which Sat Nav
July 08, 2012, 10:01:48 AM
I'd love one but they do seem like a bit of a luxury (unless I ever get round to a trip abroad ) considering a car sat nav can be bought for under £150  - the bike ones seem a total rip off ---- It might be more work but unless I have a bit of a windfall I'm afraid I'll just have to stick with the old fashioned fold out paper maps.

tried to search forum - and manual is useless too  !  ------ how may turns are recommended from fully soft to what is considered a 'normal' set up ? ( I realise that people weigh different amounts or prefer a different ride  - but what should the factory pre set be - and what is considered an average rider's weight ???  ---- (and English one  - not a tiny Japanese !)

I tend to agree with Mecki    -- wtf is it about the 'look at me - I have a loud motorbike "  ???   -  it might be an age thing but I find myself turning into a cross between Victor Meldrew and Alf Garnett more and more these days .  name any subject and I can moan about it  ---- not 'twist' mind -- only women do that !!!

my mistake -- found them -- not as expensive as I thought - considering the small kawasaki set is £35 - then they're not too bad a price !

on the website it only lists Councours 1400  form 07-09 ??   - will they fit any year  ?  ( specifically the bolt cut-outs ?

Keep meaning to source one - on my ZX12 I bought a black one off Ebay and painted it kawasaki green  --- hugger and paint/ primer etc about £50    --- a fair price for a bit of either moulded plastic or fibreglass !  I won't be paying £100+ for one though  - I'll just wash the bike more often !

- question is  - on a 13.5 K motorbike, why isn't there one on as standard ????

will wait for better photos  ---- If they're nearly black, they should look ok on a dark green bike !

( just looked at the website and the snakeskin ones look the business !   ---- far too pricey though  - almost £100 !!! )

- btw  - the official kawasaki side protectors ( part of the set of 3  ---- are useless - far too small and dont really protect the correct area ! )
