Well chaps, I must confess......  I went to CMC to look at a GTR on Saturday but it was sold.  Then I went to J&S on the way home and that's when it all went T*ts up.

saw a brand new Kawasaki Versys 1000,  Sat on it, had a think, got a price for mine against it which resulted in a deal which was almost a straight swap

The bike felt lighter and more manageable that the Explorer, I could get on and off it a little easier, the clutch was ultra light being a cable operated one, and the riding position was better than the GTR.  So that was that.  Pick it up Friday.

Well did not expect that to happen, but felt I got a cracking deal and when the time comes, I may just get back on a GTR and pop my head in.

Stay safe guys and see ya on the road some time.

Hello again chaps, After a 3 year affair with 2 Triumph Tiger Explorers which are a fabulous bike.. I am in the process of finding another GTR1400.  I had a 2009 model years back and then got a 2012 model which I eventually changed for the first Tiger in 2013.

You may ask why the change from and then back to the GTR??

Well its like this,  I always fancied an Adventure bike and once I tried the Tiger, I felt like king of the road and it was so high and comfortable.  But, I am now suffering with arthritis and find the Tiger a tall lump and both me and the wife are struggling to get on and off the thing especially with luggage.   So, we are coming back to a much lower bike that we know and love.  Simples

Once I get hold of 1 which may either be a 2012 model which I can trade for now, or I may well wait until my mate buys my XJR1300 and this will allow me to get a much later bike.

Anyway, Hi again and speak soon.

Well the GTR has gone unfortunately we did not get to the bottom of the vibes and it just tainted the whole experience.

Anyway, the Trumpet was delivered on Monday and I am looking forward to getting out on her this week sometime.

Will stick around even though I dont have a GTR anymore.

Its funny because I had sort of accepted the GTR as just being a bit vibey and was just gonna crack on and ignore it as I love the bike. I still think she would have benefitted from the throttle bodies balancing but J&S could not be bothered to humour me and do them.

Maybe I am just too picky and ended up being paraniod about something that was not actually a problem?????  Probably.

Anyway, out of impulse I booked and test rode the Tex and found it to be perfect for my size. Its tall, wide and has a huge road presence. We just clicked staright away and I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

So I decided what the hell, ya only young once, jump in and have a change.

I still love the GTR and would have quite happily kept her but was just blown away by the big trailee.

I will post some piccies when she arrives next week.

I have the 2012 model SENA SMH10 and am very happy indeed. Never tried any other so dont know how it would stack up against them.

I would buy another for sure.

Quick Update regarding Bike. It is going Monday.

have bought a Triumph Explorer 1200

Test rode it today for 80 miles and it is great.

IMHO, Kawasaki have made a worse bike from 2010 onwards.  Should have kept my old one but nevermind. It has all worked out ok.

Have a few bits to sell now in the Marketplace to help fund some panniers for the Trumpet.

Cheers for your input WS. I have it booked in again with J&S next Tuesday for the mechanic to test ride again doing what I did.  If I get no joy I will be calling Kawasaki Uk Technical to see if they can shed any light.

Its a shame none of you live close by so I could let ya ride it back to back with yours and see if they are the same or if mine is as bad as I think.

We I have finally got the GTR Back Saturday after 2 weeks. The shop mechanic was adam ant that the vibe issue was the tyres. They could not get the 190/50 Bridgestone BT023 GT fro their supplier so I just said put some PR2's on, (Had them on my previous GTR with no problems at all).  Anyway, I got a call saying he had test rode it and everything was now fine as before it was like riding on 2 badly balanced tyres.

Well yesterday I went out and tried a bit of an experiment on the local quiet bypass.

1st run was to get up to top gear ASAP and steadily increase the speed. At highish speed the vibes were hardly noticeable, (below 5000rpm)

2nd run I tried in 4th gear so I could get past 5000rpm and not be going too fast. As soon as the bike hit 5000rpm the vibes started and at 7000rpm it was terrible, the engine vibes were transferring through the bars and footrests and the whole bike was one big buZZZZZZZZZZ

Now chaps, is this normal for a post 2010 GTR?????

I dont want to keep booking it in if it is.   I know vibes has been covered over and over but how bad do they actually have to get before it is deemed unacceptable?

So Far I am £236 out of pocket with new tyres I am not sure I needed in the first place after only 2000 miles.

With normal riding, the tyres should not wear unevenly

Surely something else must be causing it?

The chap at J&S said they have had problems with front tyre wear on FJR fronts and this was cured by using the BT023 GT tyres.

He suggested they try mine with the BT023 GT's and see if this cures the vibe problem.

Personally I think if its tyre wear, He could in fact put new Pilot road 3's on and they would seem ok, (Until they wear unevenly AGAIN)

I could end up paying £250 for tyres I dont need then in a years time be in the very same situation with uneven wear and by then the bike will be out of warranty and i'll be left footing the bill yet again for another investigation :censored:

Lets see what Monday brings.

Just called J&S to get some feedback on the GTR situation.  the chap I spoke to says that both tyres look to be worn unevenly on the sidewalls  which could be causing the vibes. Oh Dear I know where this is going. :sweatdrop:

He said they aint fitted any different tyres yet and test rode her to see if the vibes dissapear. So they are gonna order some Bridgestome BT023 GT's and fit them then test ride again.

If the vibes are no better I am having the PR3's back on and will see what other suggestions come forth.

Apparently wheel bearings and discs are fine.

I mentioned that all the folk on here have PR3's fitted and non have reported issues and get far more than 2000 miles before they are worn out.

If it does turn out to be the tyres I asked If they could contact the supplier and get me a refund as I will have to pay in full for the Bridgestones if they stay on.

This is no fault of J&S's, they are trying to sort me out, although I can see this being a costly excersise for me

Just to add insult to the situation, I bought a brand new set of tyres for the XJR 2 days ago from them for about £220.  If I had known what may happen, I would have saved my pennies for this.

Ah Well, fingers crossed they come up trumps.
