1400GTR Discussion / Scratched Pannier
July 30, 2012, 04:58:22 PM
Me being a clumsy scrote, and all the other 'mates' who say "that's nice can I sit on it", not to mention me wearing lace up Alberg boots has resulted in a severely scratched pannier.  I know a plastic film is available but it's a bit late now...unless it will hide the damage :help:

Anyway I just wondered other than respraying the pannier in Kawasaki brown (why do they call it grey?). Has anyone any ideas on mending/hiding/covering the offensive scratches?

One suggestion was carbon fibre look film to hide it. That suggestion came from the first numpty who dragged his boot across it... :hammer:

Same Sex Marriage.........

Michael and Gary got married in California... They couldn't afford a honeymoon so they go back to Michael's Mom and Dad's house for their first married night together.

In the morning, Johnny, Michael's little brother, gets up and has his breakfast.
As he is going out of the door to go to school, he asks his mom if Michael and Gary are up yet.
She replies, 'No'.
Johnny asks, 'Do you know what I think?'
His mom replies, 'I don't want to hear what you think! Just go to school.'

Johnny comes home for lunch and asks his mom, 'Are Michael and Gary up
yet?'
She replies, 'No.'
Johnny says, 'Do you know what I think?'
His mom replies, 'Never mind what you think! Eat your lunch and go back to school '

After school, Johnny comes home and asks again,
'Are Michael and Gary up yet?'
His mom says, 'No.'
He asks, 'Do you know what I think?'
His mom replies, 'OK, now tell me what you think.'

He says: 'Last night Michael came to my room for the Vaseline and I think....I gave him my airplane glue.' :whistling:

Letter from Camp....

Dear Mum,

Our Scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw the flood on TV and got worried. We are okay. Only one of our tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away.. Luckily, none of us got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for Adam when it happened.

Oh yes, please call Adam's mother and tell her he is okay. He can't write because of the cast. I got to ride in one of the search and rescue Jeeps. It was great. We never would have found Adam in the dark if it hadn't been for the lightning.

Scoutmaster Ted got mad at Adam for going on a hike alone without telling anyone. Adam said he did tell him, but it was during the fire so he probably didn't hear him. Did you know that if you put gas on a fire, the gas will blow up?

The wet wood didn't burn, but one of the tents did and also some of our clothes.
Matthew is going to look weird until his hair grows back.

We will be home on Saturday if Scoutmaster Ted gets the bus fixed. It wasn't his fault about the crash. The brakes worked okay when we left. Scoutmaster Ted said that with a bus that old, you have to expect something to break down; that's probably why he can't get insurance.

We think it's a super bus. He doesn't care if we get it dirty, and if it's hot, sometimes he lets us ride on the bumpers. It gets pretty hot with 45 people in a bus made for 24. He let us take turns riding in the trailer until the policeman stopped and talked to us.

Scoutmaster Ted is a neat guy. Don't worry, he is a good driver. In fact, he is teaching Horace how to drive on the mountain roads where there aren't any cops. All we ever see up there are huge logging trucks.

This morning all of the guys were diving off the rocks and swimming out to the rapids. Scoutmaster Ted wouldn't let me because I can't swim, and Adam was afraid he would sink because of his cast (it's concrete because we didn't have any plaster), so he let us take the canoe out. It was great. You can still see some of the trees under the water from the flood.

Scoutmaster Ted isn't crabby like some scoutmasters. He didn't even get mad about the life jackets.. He has to spend a lot of time working on the bus so we are trying not to cause him any trouble.

Guess what? We have all passed our first aid merit badges. When Andrew dived into the lake and cut his arm, we all got to see how a tourniquet works.

Steve and I threw up, but Scoutmaster Ted said it was probably just food poisoning from the left-over chicken. He said they got sick that way with food they ate in prison.. I'm so glad he got out and became our scoutmaster. He said he sure figured out how to get things done better while he was doing his time. By the way, what is a pedal-file?

I have to go now. We are going to town to post our letters and buy some more beer and ammo.. Don't worry about anything. We are fine and tonight it's my turn to sleep in the Scoutmaster's tent.

I agree.

For my case, I assumed it was purely because of the French strangulation of the whole engine to 106BHP.  As I don't ride it in ECO mode, I don't get the problem.

Maybe Mattye can tell us if he has this issue in normal mode and / or in ECO mode?  And just to check that his bike is a full power model...

I've got a strangled french one and never had any hint of jerky throttle.....as for ECO mode never even tried it....only because I work in the oil industry and it would be bad for business... :devil2:

If Kawasaki have paid you any form of compensation (i.e. half) they have inadvertantly admitted liability and probably now have no case should you decide to fight it.  ;)

I'm no lawyer but I do a lot of industrial accident investigations and the first thing our lawyers say in the office is once we pay anything out, before an insurance claim is completed, it automatically is an admission of liabilty regardless of who is at fault. :o

1400GTR Discussion / Re: Dead battery
July 23, 2011, 05:42:59 AM
Happened to me on my Norge a couple of years ago. Filled up with fuel got back to the house to pick up the Baroness, my mate is there waiting engine running, hit the button and nothing......bloody annoying.

Turned out after my 3rd battery (on the other occasions it wouldn't start it just gave the symptoms of a dead battery) I found there is a wiring mod on the Guzzi' s to fix it. By which time I'd made the decision to swap the bike.

I duly fixed it and 3 months later swapped it for the GTR.....just because I didn't trust it any more.

It's a shame because I like Guzzi's and wish I'd never sold a V11 I had years ago (I know I'm not quite normal) but I can't tolerate bike that fail with no warning.......I spent 20 years as a truck mechanic and I now hate mending stuff.

This is Ruth (the Baronness) and she is fitted with and automatic speed limiting device. Oddly enough when she's on pillion my kidneys have been known to spontaneously start to bleed under hard acceleration..... ::)

Thanks for the welcome. Which bike to choose? Easy, if I'm off out for the day or taking the missus the Kwacker. If it's only a couple of hours lunacy the Dorsoduro. I really should get rid of it. It promotes extremely bad behaviour ;D ::) ;D...and if it's pissing down take the Beta down to my mates wood down the road. ;)

As for the Ossa I really bought it to restore eventually and it was cheap. I'm also very wary of it since it spat me off and I found that it might not totally have been all my own incompetence. On closer inspection it had been modified with shorter rear shocks than standard. No wonder I got to the top of a bank and found the front wheel going over the top of my head... :o :o

I had a UK model Guzzi Norge previously which I French registered because staying on UK plates gets a bit dodgey with UK insurers if you spend more than 3 months out of UK. Also its illegal in France not to register a vehicle after 6 months.

As for the power apparently the 106 bhp law is being revoked in 2013 as it is against European law. Which is just about the time I'll be looking to trade the Kwaker in. 8)

I'll have a look at GTR Mania but I doubt if my french is that good, might give it a go with google and see what happens. Cheers :)

Hi there,

I just found this forum while searching for a better looking exhaust. A Beowulf is now on the way. ;D

I'm sort of living in Brittany France, well the wife and the bikes are there. I spend most of my time bouncing around all the wonderful places in the world looking at drilling rigs.

Anyway I bought the GTR new last year. Its a French one restricted to 106 HP but it really doesn't bother me that much at the moment. It's plenty fast enough to lose my licence. Apparently they're really easy to derestrict but getting caught gets your bike crushed. >:(

I've got a Dorsoduro for hooning around the lanes on......oddly enought thats 100 brake horse as well.. ;D I've also got two trials bikes a Beta 250 and a 1975 Ossa 250 MAR which I managed to implale my leg on the handlebar an hour after I bought it. >:( Dougie Lampkin I certainly am not :D

Oh and my French is crap.......In Algeria the other month I asked a waiter for bread (in my best French "du pain s'il vous plaƮt")........and he brought me an omlette ??? Tasted quite nice though.... ;)
