Ah yes, you did an installation video iirc.

Not sure if they'll fit under the Motech crash bars, which look to sit quite close to the cylinder head.

Perhaps I'll put the £219 towards a nav iv instead 🤔

It seemed a bit dramatic selling the bike just because you dropped it but then I thought, hell I've done that.  :mfr_lol:
I never got on with my last GSA Adventure, I dropped it twice in a day and a third time on another day while up in Scotland, it had to go.
I love my latest GSA though, hopefully you'll have a long relationship with yours. I'd get some cylinder head covers though to stop them getting chipped, they're expensive to replace.

The RS is superb. Knew I wanted it within 400mtrs of riding it...and it has a full set of BMW luggage as well.

Good point re the engine bars. I've got a set from SW Motech on order 👍

Good point

Thanks Pete.

Debbie pillioned on the RS today for the test ride and loved it. She has ridden with me on my bikes for years. She will gladly continue to pillion so long as it's not the GTR. She has decided to go for her full motorcycle licence now. Will be great to ride with her on her own machine.

Well...what a day!

With Mrs Moogus on the back, had a lovely ride out over Exmoor and into Lynton before dropping down for lunch in Lynmouth, then across the top, down Porlock hill into Minehead for coffee...then disaster!

Turning right at a T junction, leant into the turn, more throttle didn't happen when called for, bike engine stopped and over she went trapping me under it. Debbie, Mrs Moogus, managed to lift the back end enough and free me. Unfortunately, pushing the bike off scratched the fairing even more but nothing broke.

Debbie suffered a strained shoulder and ribs, I had a sore ankle. The bike was scratched on right mid fairing, lower panel, wing mirror and pannier. Rode it home though.

Net result of all this...Debbie won't go the back anymore and I've fallen out of love with the bike, so much so that today I traded it for a BMW R1200RS.

I accept it was my fault. earlier in the week, in an effort to lessen the 1st gear clunk on selection I adjusted the idle from 1500rpm to 1100. Being used to extra revs at slow speed, coupled with the fueling issue i've written about, the engine didn't have the fuel required to make the turn and stalled.

If i'm honest, the R1200RS was fabulous and so much better. I'll miss the GTR certainly but am somewhat relived it'll be gone on 8th May when I collect my RS.

Hi Duc750 and welcome,

I bought my GTR in July last year, absolutely lovely. Great 2 up, effortless.

They are tall and very heavy. I'm 5'8" tall and struggle to get both feet on the deck, which is really disconcerting when stopping at junctions etc  especially 2 up.

Lots of help, information and sound advice on here from people who have owned, and lived with, these machines for a long time.

Go get one...Sports tourers are making a comeback!

Holy thread resurrection batman!

....but, my GTR is suffering the same symptoms as described above. I have a Kawasaki race specialist 4 miles away who commented that most EFi bikes are the same but before remapping, change the fuel filter. I will do that soon.

Looking around I've read about swapping to an aftermarket exhaust can and swapping the O2 sensor, in the cat, for a bypass and plugging the hole. This, apparently, irons out the snatchy throttle.

Has anyone any experience/advice on this?

Thanks all, had to remove left middle fairing and found it lurking behind a rubber cover.

Have adjusted the idle to 1100 (was nearly 1500 when warm!).

Thanks Daisy,

Nothing like that hanging around my gearshift. It's got to be there somewhere, I'll have a poke around behind some stuff...see what I can find.

Thanks again

1400GTR Discussion / idle adjust, gen 2 GTR
April 08, 2021, 07:31:03 PM
Hi all,

Yup another Moogus post where I need a bit of help...

I've downloaded the free workshop manual which covers the 1st generation GTR. To adjust the idle speed it advises to fiddle with the adjusting screw located near the gear shifter.

I've got the 2nd generation GTR, i've looked but I can't see any adjusting screws in the vicinity of the gear shift.

Can someone please point me in the direction of adjusting the idle speed of a gen2?...please

Yup, enjoyed that one Steve...and found the video on the heated jacket interesting

The local chap is Neil Pearson of NP Racing (got a BSB team apparently), specialise in Kawasaki...handy!

Anyway, spoke to him last week. He explained that before going down the remap route, which he can do, I should swap out the fuel filter. The 1400 motor is a bit of a diva with regard to receiving clean fuel. The symptoms I described led him to believe my bike has a fuel filter issue rather than a remap need.

Having studied Asif's superb photo posting of the fuel filter swap, I'm going to have go at replacing the filter myself soon.

I'm going to lower it, with a Lust kit, as well....

Welcome Mick from down here in Devon

You'll find this is an excellent forum. Good banter, 1st class help and advice and excellent, photo led, servicing articles. Gave me the confidence to tackle a few jobs myself...and I'm useless when it comes to spannering!

Enjoy  :punk:
