Cracking European ride this year. Plymouth to Santander then down through Pamplona to Jaca. Overnight camp. Down to Ainsa and up through the Pyrenees to Montreal near Carcassonne. Bit of luxury here as we stayed at a friends house for a rather nice roast chicken dinner + wine and beer. Up in the morning and off again to Rauzan near Bordeaux. Another overnight camp a little evening walk around Rauzan and rather nice tagliatelli carbonara. Rather soggy start to the day but up and away by 10 for a jaunt up to St Hilaire approx 80 miles above La Rochelle on the Atlantic coast. Final leg now in France from St Hilaire to St Malo and a stay in a Chateau 3 miles out of St Malo. A taxi into St Malo for a few beers and a curry. Up in the morning for the ferry back to Portsmouth. Arrived Portsmouth at 1815. Stopped for fuel at Fareham and then rode home to Kegworth in the rain with another stop at Brackley. Fantastic trip somewhere in the region of 200 miles or so a day. First time I've taken the GTR on a big big trip and what a bike for, it I felt I could do an extra couple of hundred miles a day. I was really happy with it. The wife on her Bonneville Street Twin, not so happy at the end of every day.
The picture is just after the Argnouet Tunnel coming out of Spain into France.

Hi all,
Going on the Plymouth to Santander ferry in a couple of weeks, me on the GTR and the wife on her Triumph Bonni. Route involves into the Pyrenees and up through Western France to St Malo and back over to Portsmouth. This is going to be a camping trip so the bikes are going to be pretty well loaded up. Not overly concerned by mine as I'm going to be concentrating on keeping all my kit in the panniers, I'm a little concerned about the wifes bike. She has "soft" panniers and will be carrying a dry bag with the tent and sleeping bags in. I am wondering whether I need to strip the Bonni down of it's luggage and drag it all the the cabin or will it be safe left tied on the bike? Any thoughts my more experienced tourers?

So after having the GTR for a few months, my thoughts? Bloomin fantastic. It's been used every day for my commute to work and had a couple of ride outs. Off to Northern Spain and France in September, really looking forward to it. The pic was taken in Stevenage on Saturday. We went to a friends wedding. My other half on her Bonnie Street Twin.

Any updates on this? I had PR4's on my Z1000 and thought they were fantastic, anyone tried them on the GTR?

Woohoo!! My 17 plate GTR has arrived 5 miles on the clock. It was shiny and lovely but is now looking pretty dirty. It's a foul day here in Kegworth, I only had a little pootle out to Loughborough to fill up the tank but it was chucking it down. Mind you I was still smiling. Looking forward to getting out on it properly.

Hello all,

I've put the deposit down on a new GTR 1400, just waiting for it to come in. It should be on my drive 01/03/17, so this is just a warm up hello. A little bit of bike history just so you can have a little insight.... Started out about 500 years ago on a Puch Maxi (purple) had about 5 Vespa's then got into cars. Took my bike test in 2009 got a Honda CBF 600, then a Suzuki Hayabusa, changed that 2 and a half years ago for a Kawasaki Z1000SX and now just waiting for the tour bus that is the GTR 1400.
I look forward to getting to know some of you lot :)
