Viper.  Don't worry about fuel consumption, mine always does 240+ miles per fill up. Has never done less than 55 mpg, and on a Euro trip  to Austria/ Italy averaged 61 MPG over a 2750 mile trip.  The big V is a great bike.  Enjoy it.           Geoff.       PS    Where have you bought the bike from?.

So that's it then, no more light humour aimed at certain individuals.   "Have you heard the one about the Englishman Scotsman and the Irishman"     sorry cant do that  :nono: .                  No more taking the p--- out of folk from "up north" or for that matter "southern softies".  :nono: .    No more having a giggle about people riding around with a camera stuck on top of their bonce.  :nono:.   When you pull the plug on things like Debs post, which I have no doubt whatsoever was just meant as a bit of light hearted p--- taking!!!!!! where does it stop:?.           Lots of people have a titter at Debs post,    yet one person makes a fuss, and the piece is chopped   .            As our friend Alibx11 says,   :agree: "time to move on indeed".      :lipsrsealed:.

Just replaced a set of Michelin PR4's which have been a terrible tyre.

They squared off front and rear and the right shoulder of front tyre has worn unevenly.

Front and rear have feathered on tread leading edge and heat cracks have appeared on rear tyre too.

6.1k miles, still got 2.5 - 3mm but unrideable.

So......29,854 miles....

£250 has been spent on a set of Bridgestone T30's.

First impressions - very stiff.  Bike turns in a lot quicker, probably due to less flex in side walls.

Working on a cycling event as Moto-Marshall this weekend, so that should scrub them in well!

Let's see how these go!
Your findings on the PR4s, mirrors exactly my findings on the PR3s that were fitted to my GTR. Absolute and utter shite. And as you state they are knackered long before the tread wears out. :hammer:

Yeah will look forward to that Geoff, I have to phone Charles first thing Wednesday to finalise pick up time etc.
Hoping it will be as early as possible cos I can't wait to get my hands on my new orange machine
I'm guessing alls well with your new 'un', catch up Wednesday all being well,
Nev.
Yes my new un is superb, just adjust levers to taste and away you go.   You will just love it.  Bonus for me was the fact that all my extras fitted to the MK1, ie   MRA Vario screen, top plate and top box. Plus all my Evotech stuff ie front spindle crash bobbins, engine bolt mount crash posts, and radiator guard have all transfered over to the 015 bike.  So that saved a small fortune.  Hope to see you on Wednesday.   Enjoy the bike.    The future is orange     Geoff

Congrats on the retirement.

For £585k up North, you'd get a hell of a lot for your money.

Just don't buy anything in Bradford
A couple of years ago a mate of mine who lives in Bradford had a fire in his house, he escaped but the house was burnt to the ground.  Gone, everthing just of few cinders left.    shocking it was, it caused £25 pounds worth of damage.                  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :whistling: :whistling:

Alan, On our avenue there are a couple who moved here from Tunbridge Wells, another couple from Exeter, some people across the road arrived from Bracknell.  The Dales are full of folk that came on holiday, fell in love with the area then came back to live here. Even myself and my good lady who although a Yorkshire lass (Saddleworth) are not natives of the parish.  It's easy Alan, sell your gaf for mega bucks, buy something up here, retire for 7 days not 4.  Then come out with us and enjoy.  simple hey?.  And they lived happy ever after..     :mfr_lol:

Yes Nev there comes a time when big and heavy becomes too big and heavy, I suppose we all reach that point eventually .  The big Versys is a great bike Nev,  enjoy it.   And as you know there is lots of banter, and help if needed on the Versys 1000 forum.   I only have 3  :sleep1: sleeps left before the new one arrives  .   But it will soon be Saturday, and you will be a very happy boy on the new un .   cheers   Geoff.

I wonder if anyone gets all their motorcycling kicks, just by taking demo bikes out.  A few hours a week wizzing around on anything that you fancy, no hp payments, no service costs and no cleaning.  Some body some where will do just that.

Hello there

I bought a Z1000SX Tourer (with ABS) new in 2012, have done 4,500 miles mainly on longer trips to South of France, Ardennes, etc. (got back into bikes after a 25 year gap in 2008). I really like the bike but it's a bit too sporty for me (I am 55 years old now) and I'd like something with better wind protection and a bit more comfort, so I've been looking at the GTR 1400. I've seen quite a few web forums with details of issues however and in particular problems with shock adjuster seizures, tank corrosion and brake disc warping. Maybe that was with earlier models. I'm thinking of buying one from new, a 2015 model.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

John (aka chorleyboy)

John, If you are looking for better wind protection and more comfort, you will certainly get it from the GTR. But you will also get lots more weight, and more bulk that the SX. Could I suggest you take a look at the 1000 Versys, more wind protection than the SX, and less sporty. But still with a fantastic engine with all the grunt right where you want it. If I were you I would book a test ride on the pair of them.  good luck.     Geoff.

Geoff, I kept looking for the word BMW but alas it was not there.  :lipsrsealed:

Congratulations on the new bike, just make sure that this time when you pick it up you take out a restraining order so the bloody dealer doesn't harass you again in another 2 years!!!  :mfr_lol:
Thanks Steve.    No I just cant bring myself round to writing  BMmmmm   NO I just cant do it :mfr_lol: .  I paid £8,500 for the Versys when I bought it new, and got 6 back for it with 26,000 miles on so as you would say      It was a no brainer.      Happy days.
