Accessories, Farkels and Mods / Fob battery hack
June 02, 2021, 09:32:29 PM
I can't remember who suggested changing the battery from the standard 2025 to the 2032 to stop the low fob battery warning but thanks, it really does work.

I've been having the low fob warning since I got the bike 12 months ago and thought I found a cure by tweaking the 4 metal tangs inside but that was only a temporary fix. I've been monitoring it for a couple of months now and no warnings at all.

If I remember correctly the only difference between the two batteries is the 2025 is 2.5mm thick and the 2032 is 3.2mm thick, both are the same volts.

My sister upgraded her dog dryer and gave me her old dryer, its brilliant,2800 watts with adjustable power and heat if required but ear defenders are needed, not for the motor itself more for the noise of the air hitting the bike at various angles. I wouldn't be without it now, plus I enjoy car detailing too so it earns its money.

Cheers that's reassuring.

They're on the bike now and they aren't coming off any time soon!

Just been looking at some youtube videos and on michelin website and it looks like they're how they should be. Just looks strange

I've just picked up my wheels after having new tyres and they are both ok, the rotation arrows are both facing forwards and both wheels are the correct orientation but the treads look to be facing the wrong way on the front.

I don't know anyone with these tyres on so can't compare.

Is this how they should look

I think the 55 instead of the 50 profile sounds like a plan, I can't see there being much difference in price.

2021 is going to be an expensive year for tyres, the car will be due all four corners as well as the gtr

Had a play with the settings on a long ride today. Rear preload is up to 20, so not quite fully up and what a difference with the turn in, very happy with that.

I'd just like to see if some of the harshness through the front on bumpy roads can be dialed out now. It's getting there though.

Had a run up around the Dale's and buttertubs today and would have given anything for a nice smooth throttle...
Your mapping sounds so much nicer than standard.

Could you possibly post the contact details etc for the Europe mapping, I only seem to get the info for shoodaben engineering in florida.

I never took note of the settings on my last gtr but it seemed to corner a lot better than this one, it had Michelin pilot road 4's This bike has Bridgestone 021's which don't really inspire confidence. I'll be upgrading to pilot road 5's next year.

Thanks for both of your replies, I've got next week off work so I'll have a play.

It might be a barge but it's the best looking barge out there

Has anyone been to see John (alpha suspension) with the gtr?

I've been having a go at setting the sag etc this afternoon and as far as I can see, with 14 stone of me and my gear, the gtr doesn't have any sag. Joking aside, after watching pretty much every video on youtube, all I can get on the front forks is 12mm of sag, so something isn't right, the rear is better but not right so I've put it back to the factory settings.

I will be contacting John but his website says he's off until the end of September so plenty of time to try again.

Other forums speak highly of him but I can't find anyone who's been with a gtr and he's only 20 minutes from me but with my sense of direction that could be 2 hours lol

Excellent news.

My fob too still seems to be behaving itself.

Haha, sorry for the confusion. No, the horn was nothing to do with the battery in the fob, it was just something that came up on the day to add to the snagging list.

Regarding the fob, I've done a full tank of fuel this afternoon with a few stops and not once seen the transponder battery warning so, for me, I am calling it fixed. Maybe the metal tangs  get tired over time and lose their 100% contact with the battery.

Another plus today, a swift tap with a spanner got the horn working too

Before you go and spend all that money, try tweaking the metal terminals inside the fob. I have been having the same trouble since the bike was delivered a few weeks ago, it's very annoying.

The fob has had two batteries so far but the lfob battery warning keeps coming on.

On Saturday I stripped it down and tweaked all four metal 'tangs' that contact the battery. Been out all day today with a few stops and fingers crossed there's been no warnings.

The horn has stopped working now though...
