Good luck with the sale it looks awesome the pinstripes set it off well 👌

Thanks a lot. I've put a fair old bit into it so hopefully someone onnthe kook out for one will see it.
The magnesium with old gold looks great I think.

Hi All

I have a 2010 GTR1400 in Metallic Magnesium (I purposely sought this colour as for me its the best one) that's been stored in the garage largely un-used for some months and its such a shame I thought i'd test the water and see if anyone on here is on the look out to buy or maybe knows anyone else that's in the market for their Summer ride?

Only reason for offering up is that a few months back I old my GSX1400 and bought a Triumph Tiger 1050 and I use that more and more.  so the GTR14 has been sat in the garage, cleaned, blanketed and connected to Optimate and put away.  I was working on the Tiger this weekend and I could see one headlight looking at me all forlorn and I just thought "you're wasted sat there" and so here I am writing this !!

Its a 2010, Metallic Magnesium.  Approx 36k Miles.  Lots of History.  Shim Service done. Shaft oil done 3 times in my ownership.  As I only tour in Europe, it gets/got an oil service before any trip and then done when home.  Its in lovely condition and has some very useful mods.   Its ready to Tour!!  Has Paniers and Top Box

Things ive done....
Top Sellerie Seat and I'll throw in the original Seat too
GTR1400 Bags in Panniers
New powder coated wheels and all footrests in "old gold".
i've had some professional Pin Striping done that sets it apart. the intake lines have a thin stripe on as well as the 4 lines on the panniers
it has a Hand painted Phoenix on both fairing panels.  in old gold and looks amazing (to me anyway)
Garmin 600 cradle and power fitted
MRA Screen (plus ill throw in another Calsci XL Screen)
Lowering Rear peg brackets are on - amazing addition
EBC HH Pads
I have a set of Bar Risers - as yet not fitted
Various wind deflectors for side and hands
Optimate lead fitted
lots of receipts and books and stuff
Also has the earlier Tank box retro-fitted so a handy place for key, card and stuff
Rad Guard fitted
PR4s fitted with plenty of life left!

lots of other bits n bobs too

MOT to 19th April and its maybe done 100 miles since last MOT !!! it will ease another MLT

Reason for sale - purely as ive a Tiger 1050 that I use more.  the GTR is just sat on Optimate and I feel its wasted.  no other reason!

A few photos attached for you...  If anyone is on the look out for one or knows anyone, please get in touch via here or pop me a text 07979 746755 (im in an office and cannot answer a call from 8-5)
the bike is located at PE28 area - Near St Ives Cambs and an more than happy to pop the kettle on and make you a cuppa while you have a good poke about and ask questions.

I don't need to sell for financial reasons, its purely for lack of use.

Its been maintained to a very high standard and is in lovely condition.  in the best colour, the fleck is stunning and the old-gold wheels etc really set it off

Thanks for reading guys and gals
John

I'd ride it as it's designed for a while. Honestly get it over 7k rpm and you'll have fun.
It's tuned for fast touring. Upto 6000 it's docile. It's supposed to be. You just need to work the revs bud

Remember 6th isn't 6th. It's an overdrive gear so don't expect ANY sparks to fly.

What you have is a Ballistic Sofa. Same as me on my first ride ... ask of anything wrong, everyone says no... just gotta shift your head around what your on.

Ballistic Sofa !!

This is how I felt too first few times out. You think it's a big ole whopper engine... should be crazy. Well, don't benchmark it to a ZX12...  that's a big sport bike..

The GTR is a touring machine. Get it over 7000rpm and you'll get going quick enough. It'll pick up its skirt n fly. Trudy me. Just don't benchmark it against bikes not in the same category.

I had a ZX12r. Great. Hyper fast. But 115 mpg!! And cantvride it without being achy.

GTR will do 165. Difference is itll donit 2 up with full luggage.... for ages !  And you'll get off all spring chicken like!!

Give it time. Fit Michelin PR4 GTs and get into Europe. It'll be singing then.

Post up again after you've nailed it in2nd to the red line and watched the clocks!!

Hi guys.
I've been looking at seats as I'd like a more comfortable one. Looking at the Top Selerie ones, there are so many to choose from. Do you know which version yours is for info purposes

Well. Since starting this post as I was so excited to see the SX I have to say what a disappointment!!  It's ugly, the front is too sharp, the single headlight looks like a cyclops. The panniers are small and crazily... no top box!!  A tourer with small capacity!!  From memory it's also chain drive I think.
Backwards steps Mr Kawasaki.
The Tank is also a very odd shape and if you look at the press photos just take a closer look.. passenger is very small on purpose as it's cramped plus they are rediculously close together.

It's like little thought has gone into a serious Euro mile muncher for 2 with kit.
I'll be on a XZR14 as next bike then.

Thought the event was ok. Just that. Ok. I went with my brother who'd love to be in a bike so he was cooing at lots. 5hrs we had a wander.
Stunned at the lack of being able to pick up a deal. I managed to bag a Rad Cover for £50 but that was only after 10 mins haggling from £70!!
Also a Pin Lock for my RPHA-10 ST. Only 3 stands had one and one wanted £35!! Paid £20 in the end

I'm amazed at these guys spending thousands and thousands on a stand and they refuse to claw anything back by selling kit.

Sigh. Grab a bargain days over.

But I DO want the Triumph Bobber. Just to look at!!

That's a bugger John, but worth a try anyway

Indeed was. I'll just have to try n find a rad guard that isn't 500 quid. RIP off. £69 bloody quid !!!
Not paying that for chicken wire

Can report the sealy rad tool is of no use at all. Just bent the fins I tried. GTR rad spacing far too small to get the tool fins between the rad fins

Bottoms. Back to square one

I'm off to the NEC end Nov. Hope onevthere for a perk.

Note I've not found a pikkie yet with a top box though. Only panniers. Bummer

Radiator fins are quite easy to straighten up, just as they are easily distorted by water leaving your front tyre at high speed. I'd always suggest a radiator protector but before you fit one try to straighten the fins back into line, they won't go perfectly as they will have stretched slightly, just try to create a good open air path. I use a plastic knife which I trimmed down to it's more meaty handle, created a blunt chisel type tip first by sharpening up then heating it up and rounding it off. It now resembles some film style prison impliment to hurt someone....just blunt, certainly does the job though.

thanks for the tip - i couldn't ever have the patients to do one by one - id be there all year so bought one of those thingamyjigs above and plan to be in the garage Sat & Sun
