1400GTR Discussion / Re: Self service

I use Motul 7100 in the engine, feckin expensive but the engine does run noticeably cooler and quieter (I had a Kawa dealer do a service once and it came back noisier and was about a bar higher on engine temp)

The oil filter wrench is 65mm with 14flutes, there are loads on amazon at less than half the price of the Kawasaki tool !!!!

It is worth putting a Projekt D filler cap on as a replacement when you've finally got the bugger out....looks better too

Hi All,

I'm know this has been done by loads of people, but I'm looking for advice on the best way to do it.....

I want to put a small camera under the front lights, linked to a recorder in the cubby.....what's everyone's advice on the best camera/recorder to use ?

Nightrider....how much did the BSD reflash and power commander set you back ?

Whether the baffles are in my SP-Racing depends on how much the neighbours kids have pi**ed me off......

Just be aware that you may be replacing anything rubber that's exposed to the air.....like seals/carb boots.
Rubber degrades with age, temperature and ozone, so if it's from the sunny bit of the US they may be a bit on the hard side.

On the plus side, rubber bits tend to be quite cheap

I've got an SP Racing on mine, sounds lovely on the power, tends to sound like artillery off throttle though :tank:

General Discussion / Re: List of bikes owned

You got me reminiscing.....my list is

AR50 (with an AR80 barrel), didn't always start running forwards
Italjet50 - Don't laugh, it was perfect for around town. Pulled over 50mph and was in Ducati colours
CG125 - Living the dream

GPz750 - Super reliable, except the time the horn caught fire
FZ600 - Air cooled, I could pick it up to turn it round
ZZR250 - Sounded like a cement mixer, but came with a lifetimes supply of fuel
RG500 - Tried to kill me on a regular basis, but looked and sounded fantastic
ZX10 - One of my favorites so I've had 3 of them.
ZX9R - I regret selling it, mainly because they're worth bu99er all
GTR1400 - It hasn't tried to kill me yet and I'm not missing chain maintenance at all

Well I've done a bit of digging....the cowling upper part number stays the same between 2009 and 2010 (55028A-0198) but the Mirror changes (56001A-0113 > 56001A-0182). The difference looks like an offset applied in the mirror sail, so in theory they're interchangeable....

Now I've just got to find a reasonable prices set of post 2010 mirrors....

Hi,

I/ve got a 2009 bike, I understand from 2010 the mirrors were raised a little (40mm?)....was this done by changing the mirror sail ? If so, can I fit 2010 mirrors ?

Hi All,

I'm having a bit of an issue with screens, which is in danger of sending me mad and emptying my bank account......

The screen that came on the bike (std Kawasaki) was terrible for buffeting at speed, so I changed to a longer screen with a flip up that the last owner included in the sale. The longer screen was good for wind noise but still had quite a lot of buffeting unless I ducked my head a couple of inches. This was starting to give me a hunch so I got hold of a MRA Vario which still does it (but not as badly), no matter where I adjust the spoiler.

I'm 6' tall and need to know if there's a screen out there that'll let me travel at speed in comfort without looking like Quasimodo.....

For info, my last bike was a ZX9R with a double bubble and although there was a lot of wind blowing over my upper body it was a lot smoother and more comfortable

The manufacturer claims it can be used on a GTR....I'm a little bit sceptical, I still have an ABBA stand that's supposed to work in the same way and isn't compatible at all
