1400GTR Discussion / Re: KIPASS problem solved
September 22, 2014, 05:24:30 PM
It would seem this micro switch might  be the cause of a lot of peoples KIPASS problems and their not been aware that the switch is even there. It could be its not the spring or solenoid but this hidden micro switch that's been the root of the problem all a long,  getting crudded up and sticking.  This micro switch when the top hat is pushed down is what activates the KIPASS and allows the ignition to be turned on to start the bike.   At the end of the day its just a case of keeping this micro switch clean and  free. No need for work around mods and extra switchs to trick the KIPASS.

The pics show where this micro switch lives, you can just make it out under the metal tag. This can get stuck down and needs to be teased with a narrow screwdriver and a squirt of WD40 to free it.  Make it part of your maintenance routine to check that its free, if you have your FOB with you as you to touch the micro switch you can make it out clicking away which shows its free.

1400GTR Discussion / KIPASS problem solved
September 20, 2014, 02:46:04 PM
For months now I`v  been suffering with a problem with the KIPASS ignition switch not working properly. The only way I could switch the ignition on was to bash the top hat, with a gloved hand, or knock the side of the ignition switch with a spanner and wait for a click before I could turn the ignition on.
First of all I took the side cover off the switch to revel the solenoid and give that a good clean with some electrical contact cleaner, but no joy still same problem.
Then I put some 3in1 into the key slot but nothing. Then I noticed that the top ring moved up and down and under the piece of ring that sticks out to the left at 9 o`clock there is a micro switch that had become stuck. After a bit of gentle prodding with a small narrow screwdriver and some electrical contact cleaner and some 3in1 the micro switch is now free and the KIPASS switch top hat is now activated with a slightest touch and not a bashing as before.

Hope this helps anyone who is having a problem with their KIPASS ignition switch.

1400GTR Discussion / Re: TPS is useful

Is anyone running without TPS`s in, just ordinary tyre valves.
Do you still get flashing low battery on the dash if you replace the TPS with ordinary valves or does that stop?

Just a word of warning:

After marshaling a cycle event at the weekend out of Oulton park, I found that I had picked up a  couple of 4mm tack in the front tyre that some :censored: :asshole: moron :dots:  had thrown on a section of  the route to try and sabotage the event. This effected several of the cyclists and a few of the  other Moto marshals. Managed a temporary repair using a tyre plugging kit I carry under the seat. So to get the tyre properly repaired now. Rang three tyre depot`s and two bike shops and because I have Pirelli Angel GT`s fitted I was told by all of them they are not repairable. The only tyre they were willing or would consider to repair was a Michelin.

The GT`s had only done about 2500 miles so had a new GT fitted on the front which was £115 fitted, but I think it will be back to the PR3`s when this pair need next changing which is a shame as I think the GT`s are a great tyre and the PR3`s after about 5000 were  :shit: . But I dont fancy shelling out for a new tyre every time I get a puncher, especially if they`v only done a few thousand miles and we cant use a tyre sealer because of the TPS `s . So Michelin`s it will have to be then.

Has anyone had a none Michelin tyre repaired????  I`m not sure to believe them or not, or is it a sales ploy. All the other bikes I`v had I`v happily used a tyre sealer in the tyre`s with no problems.

Keith its the inner part you need trying to pull out, the outer ring is part of the main exhaust body and stays in place.

I fancy having a go at making her a duel exhaust bike. Is it as simple as getting the headers off an 08 ZZR1400, my GTR been a A8F model and a left hand ZZR1400 Scorpion
can???? Or is that too easy????

well done on the removal of your baffle, what did you use to get it out,as i said mine is really tight, and dont want to damage anything.knowing my luck i will knack them.!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Just undid the screw and hooked it out, with a bit of a twist and a yank at the same time with my fingers. Was a bit of a tight fit but once I got it started it slid out a treat.
