I suffered for about 20 years until I couldn't take it any more.. I had both wrists done about seven years ago with a three-month interval between the operations and both hands have been perfect ever since.
I can enjoy riding again and I'm so glad I had it done. I had it done in the winter so I wouldn't miss any riding and within six weeks of the second operation I was back on my bike.
cheers.

Until i searched for the specific problem i didn't see anything about it and I did a lot of research. Its useless in the rain.

It would be interesting if others who have the 400 rider try the test...just dip your hand in a container of water & flick it at the screen, do it a few times & see what happends.

cheers.

next  removing the rubber paint

after my 1500 mile trip  around Scotland with the wife, the panniers have become very scuffed from the wife getting  on and off the bike. So I decided to remove the rubber paint and see how the panniers had got on.

First some pictures of the rubber paint scuffed

a very quick video  that shows the problem, I only  let it affect the screen once as I didn't want all my settings to get changed but I'm sure you can understand what will happen in heavy rain and at speed.

I have an old tomtom rider & thats ok, tomtom have said its because of the new screen technology that is so responsive.......just give us a software update tomtom, give us a screen lock...how hard can it be?

cheers

I never read anything about it either & i did lots of research, utube, google, bike forums and the usual stuff. It was only when i searched the exact problem and it took some searching did I find any information about it.

it's just ridiculous really, I'm going to try flicking some water at it to recreate the problem and video it ...  Then I will put it online  everywhere I can.

cheers

Just got back from a 1500 mile trip around Scotland using my tom-tom 400 rider sat nav and I thought I would pass on a few of my thoughts to you so I will get straight to the points.

the good;  It only missed two speed cameras on the whole trip so I think that was pretty good.
during the average speed camera sections it shows your average speed and the distance to the next camera  so if you have been going slow  you can speed it up a bit and still  have the correct average speed.

the bad and the ugly (I thought I would put these two together  as it was extremely bad and bloody ugly);

heading up to York there was torrential rain, not a big deal if you know where you are.....but if you don't have a clue where you are or which direction to take and visibility is extremely low and there is a lot of traffic around you it can be hard going.

when rain hits the tom-tom 400 rider screen the screen reacts as though it is being pressed. as water drips down the screen  the screen is constantly reacting  as though it is being pressed multiple times  all over the place.
Maps gets changed, settings get pressed and altered in a totally random fashion and as you try to recall your map the screen is still reacting to the rain  and trying to alter everything at random.

"I couldn't believe it"  is an understatement, I had a search online  and there seems to be a lot of people complaining about this....  People have contacted tom-tom and been sent replacement units that behave in exactly the same manner. From what I have seen  online  tom-tom have admitted  they are sending out replacement units that are exactly the same as the old units and will react in exactly the same way.

People have asked for a software update  so they can lock the screen  on the current map if they wish to...  Sounds like a dam good idea to me.

I ended up having to remove  the glass screen protector from my mobile phone and place it over the tom-tom  which has raised edges on the tom-tom casing, I then had to wrap  insulating tape around it and around the tom-tom....  That got me to my destination but it was no fun trying to sort it out in torrential rain.

Had I known how it reacts to the rain  I would have seriously considered  a different make  of Satnav, never in my wildest dreams did I think a bit of rain would affect a motorcycle satnav  and make it  unusable.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts
cheers.
